We are excited that you are considering a visit to Liverpool First United Methodist Church!
We understand visiting a new church for the first time can feel a bit overwhelming.
In order to help you feel more comfortable we have answered some of the more frequently asked questions for you. If you find that you still have questions, call us at 315–457-5180 and we will be happy to answer them!
We hope you enjoy your time worshiping with us!
“What time is church?”
We offer traditional services at 9:30 & 11:00 on Sunday mornings From September through May. During summer we offer the 10:00 service alone. There is an additional service of reflection & Communion offered at 8:15 in our chapel year round.
“Where should I park?”
We have a large parking lot on the side and back of our church, you can enter from either Vine Street or Oswego Street. There is also street parking available in front of the church on Oswego Street. There is also available parking on Hazel Street, which is the street at the top of our parking lot.
“Where should I enter?”
We have three entrances in to Liverpool First UMC. Our first entrance is through the purple doors located on Oswego Street. This entrance brings you directly into the sanctuary, please note there are steps to reach this entrance. Our second entrance is also located on Oswego Street, just past the sanctuary purple doors. This entrance allows a flat entrance into the sanctuary. Our third and main entrance is located at the back of the building off the main parking lot. This entrance is most convenient if you are attending our chapel service or bringing children. There are both stairs and an elevator located at this entrance.
“I’m here, now what?”
To reach the sanctuary: The purple doors will take you directly into the sanctuary. If you enter at the back door, follow the signs to the Sanctuary. If you enter through the front door, continue through the second set of doors and the sanctuary is immediately on your right. Once you are at the sanctuary doors, you will be welcomed by a greeter or usher who will offer you a bulletin. If you need special assistance, such as a large print bulletin, hearing device or assistance with seating, this is the person to speak to. Once inside, make yourself comfortable and enjoy the service. Please fill out one of our attendance booklets located in the pews to let us know you visited and let us know if there are any questions we can answer or any need you may have. Following the service, we’d like to welcome you to join us in the Fellowship Hall for free refreshments.
To reach the children’s area and nursery: Entering through the back doors you will immediately see stairs and an elevator leading to our lower level known as Discovery Zone. There are signs on the walls directing you to the different classrooms where a teacher will welcome your child, give you a sign-in form to complete and hand you an ID tag for both you are your child. Please hang on to the ID tag as this is used for safety of children. You will return the tag to the teacher when you arrive to pick up your child. Once your child is settled in, return back upstairs and follow the signs to the sanctuary.
“What do I wear?”
Liverpool First UMC does not have any (written or unwritten) dress code. We would like you to feel comfortable worshiping with us, so simply put, wear what you are comfortable in. For some that means a suit and tie, to others it may mean shorts and a t‑shirt. We’ve had stilettos to flip flops and everything in between!
“Is there nursery care?”
Yes, we offer nursery care for infants through 36 months during our 9:30 & 11:00 Sunday Services. There is also an infant-nursing mothers room for parents to take advantage of during service. Both are located on the lower level which can be accessed by the stairs or elevators located at either the front or back entrances of our building. Service is broadcast into both rooms.
“Where do I go with my children?”
A wonderful Sunday school program for children, 3 years of age through 12th grade, is offered and all are welcome to attend. It is located in our children’s area, called Discovery Zone, located on the lower level and can be reached by either the stairs or elevators located by the front or back entrances of our building. The most convenient entrance for Discovery Zone is through the entrance located off the back parking lot. Our program begins at 9:15am.
Children are always welcome to attend church worship service with their family.
