Church School

We are so excited about our Sunday School program!  We have several teachers who are incredibly dedicated to teaching the children in their classrooms the Word of God.  Currently, we are using Cokesbury’s Live B.I.G. curriculum in our classrooms, except for our preschool class, who is using Cokesbury’s Rock Solid Curriculum.  Each week the children are engaged with teaching relevant to their lives and are loved on by our dedicated teachers.  Our teachers make each child feel loved and accepted!  During our Sunday school hour, we also provide nursery care for anyone who might need it.

Family Worship

The second Sunday of every month we have what we call Family Worship.  On this Sunday, our children begin the Sunday School hour up in the Sanctuary with their families and experience what it is like to be in “big church.”  Our youth often lead our liturgy during this service and serve in other capacities of leadership during the service.  Towards the middle of the service, there is a “children’s moment” where the children are invited up front to hear from God’s Word in a way that they understand and is relevant to their lives.  After the children’s moment, the children are dismissed to their Sunday School classrooms for regular Sunday School.  This is a great chance for families to sit together in church and gives an opportunity for our youth to lead us in worship.  We really believe God is doing great things through these family worship Sundays!

Special Events

As part of our Christian Education Program, we try and host regular family intergenerational events that bring families together and that bring our church family together. In December, we hosted an Advent Family Festival that included crafts, dinner, and worship.  Check back in often for upcoming events!

Service Projects

Each quarter we try to do a service project as a community within the Christian Education Program.  This winter, we are doing a service project to support the Central New York Ronald McDonald House.  We heard from a representative on January 24th during our Sunday School hour, who gave us incredible insight into the ministry of the Ronald McDonald house.  Over a 4 week period of time, we collected items off of their Winter wish list.  It is such a blessing to serve alongside of our children as we reach out together beyond the walls of our church!

Little Hands, Big Hearts, Lenten Bible Study for Children

Every year during Lent, LFUMC offers a Bible study for adults.  This year during Lent, we are offering not only a Bible Study for adults, but also a Bible study for children and youth on Tuesday nights.  The Lenten Bible will run from Tuesday, February 23rd until March 30th.    We would love for you to be involved!  There is a free dinner offered at 6:15  in the fellowship hall and the Bible study will go from 7:00-8:00pm. The adult Bible study will take place in the fellowship hall, and the children and teen Bible studies will take place downstairs in the Christian Education wing.  It will be a time to learn more about our Lord during this special time of year, in exciting new ways through hands on activities! We hope to see you there! Nursery care will be provided.
