OPENING PRAYER
Almighty God, in a world of change you placed eternity in our heart and gave us power to discern good from evil, Grant us sincerity, that we may persistently seek the things that endure, refusing those which perish, and that, amid things vanishing and deceptive, we may see the truth steadily, follow the light faithfully, and grow ever richer in that love which is the life of all people; through Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen.

SCRIPTURE 1 Corinthians 9:16-23
If I proclaim the gospel, this gives me no ground for boasting, for an obligation is laid on me, and woe to me if I do not proclaim the gospel! For if I do this of my own will, I have a reward; but if not of my own will, I am entrusted with a commission. What then is my reward? Just this: that in my proclamation I may make the gospel free of charge, so as not to make full use of my rights in the gospel. For though I am free with respect to all, I have made myself a slave to all, so that I might win more of them. To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews. To those under the law I became as one under the law (though I myself am not under the law) so that I might win those under the law. To those outside the law I became as one outside the law (though I am not free from God’s law but am under Christ’s law) so that I might win those outside the law. To the weak I became weak, so that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all people, that I might by all means save some. I do it all for the sake of the gospel, so that I may share in its blessings.
L: This is the word of the Lord.
P: Praise be to God.
L: The Lord be with you.
P: And with your spirit
COMMUNION MEDITATION "The Secret to Winning" Dr. Hall
We Ask Forgiveness and Commune with Christ
INVITATION (Leader)
Christ our Lord invites to his table all who acknowledge their brokenness and seek healing and strength, who love him, and who seek to live in peace with one another. Therefore, let us confess our sin before God and one another.
CONFESSION AND PARDON (in unison)
Merciful God, we confess that we have not loved you with our whole heart. We have failed to be an obedient church. We have not done your will, we have broken your law, we have rebelled against your love, we have not loved our neighbors, and we have not heard the cry of the needy. Forgive us, we pray. Free us for joyful obedience, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
COMMUNION RITUAL (pages 9-11)
COMMUNION
+ Come forward down center aisle as guided by an usher (choir and acolytes will come first)
+ Kneel or stand at the Communion Rail
+ Take a piece of bread from the plate when offered and eat
+ Take a cup from the rail and drink
+ After dismissal by a pastor, return to your seat by a side aisle
+ While seated offer quiet prayers for family, neighbors, church, world... and listen.
+ For personal meditation, open hymnal any place and read hymns and prayers.
PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING (in unison)
Eternal God, we give you thanks for this holy mystery in which you have given yourself to us. Grant that we may go into the world in the strength of your Spirit, to give ourselves for others, in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
