CALL TO WORSHIP
L: The Lord, the Almighty, he who makes a path through the sea, he who raises up
and lays low the people of the earth. . . The Lord says to us,
P: Do not remember or cling to the things of old. I am about to do a new thing
among you. Will you perceive it?

L: The Lord, the Almighty declares, "I will make a way in the desert. I will give water
to drink to my people, the people I have called and the people I have chosen."
ALL: We come today to partake of you, O Lord. We come as your people. We come
to perceive your work and to listen to your voice.
*GLORIA PATRI

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the
beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
OPENING PRAYER
Creator God, we thank you for the gift of life itself. We know that everything you
created is good and that our lives can be purposeful and meaningful. We confess that
we often fall short of the mark. We turn against your ways and by doing so, we cause
your good and orderly creation to sink back into the chaos from which you created
it. We know that you are a forgiving God, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast
love. Forgive us and restore us unto you. Help us enjoy the goodness of your creation
and allow your light and love to shine through us; for it is in your Son's name, Jesus
Christ, we pray. Amen.
LORD'S PRAYER (in unison)
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will
be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive
us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into
temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and
the glory, forever. Amen.

*HYMN No. 2223 (FWS) "They'll Know We Are Christians by Our Love"

We Listen to God's Word
SCRIPTURE Isaiah 55:1-9
Ho, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and you that have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy? Listen carefully to me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food. Incline your ear, and come to me; listen, so that you may live. I will make with you an everlasting covenant, my steadfast, sure love for David. See, I made him a witness to the peoples, a leader and commander for the peoples. See, you shall call nations that you do not know, and nations that do not know you shall run to you, because of the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, for he has glorified you. Seek the Lord while he may be found, call upon him while he is near; let the wicked forsake their way, and the unrighteous their thoughts; let them return to the Lord, that he may have mercy on
them, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
L: This is the word of the Lord.
P: Praise be to God.
L: The Lord be with you.
P: And with your spirit.
