Learn about the Gala­pa­gos Islands
Jan­u­ary 27 at 7:15 pm

Joanne and Ray Kozlos­ki will present a slide show from a nature cruise that they enjoyed to the Gala­pa­gos Islands off the coast of Ecuador. They saw amaz­ing wildlife includ­ing giant tor­tois­es and marine igua­nas. Every­one is wel­come at the 7:15 pm pro­gram.

Basic Lay Ser­vant Course — March 20 & 21

Sharon Hart­man and Kay Phillips will teach this class at Liv­er­pool 1st March 20 (6 — 9 pm) & March 21 (9 am — 4 pm).

Help the home­less by donat­ing socks & per­son­al care sup­plies

John Tumi­no from In My Father’s Kitchen is com­ing to the Olive­branch Wom­en’s Group meet­ing in Feb­ru­ary to share infor­ma­tion about his pro­gram. He also dis­trib­utes white socks (no dress socks), trav­el size deodor­ant, wet wipes, and kleenex tis­sues to peo­ple in need. Dona­tions of these items will be accept­ed at a bin in the church cor­ri­dor. Con­tact the church at 315–457-5180 for infor­ma­tion.

Thank you for sup­port­ing Love Lights cam­paign

Out­reach thanks every­one for their gen­eros­i­ty in donat­ing to this year’s Christ­mas Love Lights cam­paign. Because of your kind­ness, we will donate $518 to A Tiny Home for Good, an organzi­a­tion that sup­ports those who face home­less­ness by pro­vid­ing afford­able, safe, and dig­ni­fied homes and by fos­ter­ing strong com­mu­ni­ty part­ner­ships to ensure res­i­dent sta­bil­i­ty.

Souper Bowl Sun­day

We are col­lect­ing cans of ready-to-eat soup for Souper Bowl Sun­day. Look for a bin out­side of fel­low­ship hall now through Feb­ru­ary 2. We will donate the soup to the St. Joseph’s Food Pantry in Liv­er­pool and to the Bless­ings in a Back­pack pro­gram that pro­vides week­end meals for chil­dren in need.

Con­fir­ma­tion Class meets soon

Con­fir­ma­tion Class will be offered for youths in 7th grade or high­er on the fol­low­ing Sun­days at 4 pm: Feb­ru­ary 2, 9, 16, 23; March 1, 8, 15, 22. Palm Sun­day will be the day the Con­fir­mands are wel­comed as full mem­bers of the church. Please let either Pas­tor Bob or Karen Gloyd know if your child will be part of this expe­ri­ence (315–457-5180).

We wel­come peo­ple of all ages to join us on our trip to Cape May, New Jer­sey — depart­ing on Fri­day, May 1 and return­ing on Sun­day, May 3. For those employed you would only need to use one vaca­tion or per­son­al day.

Bless­ings in a Back­pack is seek­ing dona­tions of ready-to-eat pas­ta meals (any brand, any child-favorite fla­vors). For many chil­dren, food is their most impor­tant school sup­ply. Infor­ma­tion is at the col­lec­tion bin in the main cor­ri­dor.

Noisy Can Col­lec­tion for mis­sion project: Feb­ru­ary 2

Start col­lect­ing your change. Out­reach will work with the Mis­sion Cen­tral Hub to pre­pare hygiene kits in Fel­low­ship Hall on Feb­ru­ary 23 after the 9:30 am ser­vice. More than 1000 hygiene kits were used to sup­port relief efforts due to this Fal­l’s flood­ing to the east of us. To help pur­chase mate­ri­als for the kits, we will take a noisy can col­lec­tion on Feb­ru­ary 2. Please help weigh down the cans, so we can
light­en the load for oth­ers.

Please sup­port the Liv­er­pool Food Pantry

Liv­er­pool First UMC sup­ports the work of the Liv­er­pool Food Pantry at St. Joseph The Work­er Church. Dona­tions of non per­ish­able foods are accept­ed year-round, and deliv­ered to the pantry week­ly. Items may be left in the pur­ple bin locat­ed in the main cor­ri­dor. 

On Sun­days when we cel­e­brate Holy Com­mu­nion (gen­er­al­ly the first Sun­day of each month) in wor­ship, we offer a spe­cial invi­ta­tion to bring food dona­tions to the altar.

Quilt min­istry seeks vol­un­teers

The Prayer Quilt min­istry meets on Tues­days at 10 am to mea­sure, cut, iron, sew, and tie knots. They are seek­ing more vol­un­teers to assem­ble quilts. Stop by church on Tues­days or call 315–457-5180 for infor­ma­tion.
