CALL TO WORSHIP

One:  Lord, we’ve come this morning seeking your presence,

ALL:  desiring to know your grace in a fresh new way.

One:  We freely admit that it’s hard to settle in when so many things cloud our minds.

ALL:  Even in the midst of worship, we struggle to pay attention.

One:  We are here trusting that you will get our attention.

ALL:  Speak to us, encourage us, challenge us and change us as we offer these moments and every moment of our lives to you, our Savior and Lord. Amen.

STATEMENT OF FAITH #884

We believe in the one God, creator and sustainer of all things, Father of all nations, the source of all goodness and beauty, all truth and love. We believe in Jesus Christ, God manifest in the flesh, our teacher, example, and Redeemer, the Savior of the world. We beleive in the Holy Spirit, God present with us for guidance, for comfort, and for strength. We beleive in the forgiveness of sins, in the life of love and prayer, and in grace equal to every need. We beleive in the Word of God contained in the Old and New Testaments as the sufficient rule both of faith and of practice. We believe in the church, those who are united in the Living Lord for the purpose of worship and service. We beleive in the reign of God as the divine will realized in human society, and in the family of God, where we are all borthers and sisters. We believe in the final triumph of righteousness and in the life everlasting. Amen.

CHORAL CALL TO PRAYER

Awaken Me to Pray by John Parker & David Lantz  III

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE

THE LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

WRITTEN WORD Colossians 3:12–17

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

QUESTIONS OF LIFE AND FAITH

• Do you ever feel like your contribution is not of much value? What makes you think that?

• Does it change your perspective to realize you are an ambassador for Christ?

• What does it mean that you are a co-laborer for Christ?

• What difference would it make to others if you clothed everything you do with humility and kindness?

• What gifts and talents do you have that could be useful for Christ?

MESSAGE As Unto the Lord
