Sheep May Safely Graze (from Cantata BWV 208) by J S Bach
Sing to the Lord a New Song by Randy Edwards
CALL TO WORSHIP
One Steadfast love surrounds those who trust in the Lord.
Many The Lord is a hiding place for us, our shield and deliverer.
One The Lord encompasses us with salvation. Great are God’s works.
Many He forgives our sin and cleanses us from unrighteousness.
One Be glad therefore, and rejoice, for God’s mercy and deliverance are sure.
Many Let us sing to the Lord our God! His steadfast love is great!
THE APOSTLE’S CREED # 881
I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord: who was conveived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE
THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

FELLOWSHIP CHORUS # 133 (v. 1 and 3)
Leaning On the Everlasting Arms
WRITTEN WORD John 10:11–15 and Psalm 23:4–6
11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. 12 The hired hand is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it. 13 The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep. 14 “I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me— 15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep.
4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
QUESTIONS OF LIFE AND FAITH
• What valleys has God led you through recently? How did you experience his protection in that time?
• What did you think David meant when he said, “Your rod and staff, they comfort me?”
• Has God ever pulled you out of a hole into which you had stumbled?
• How does it feel to hear the good shepherd say “I am near you?”
• What “wolves” does God need to defend you from these days? They can be internal or external.
• Have you thanked God lately for his defense of your faith and life? Have you thanked Jesus for laying down His life for you?

BENEDICTION RESPONSE Go Now In Peace by Don Besig
Go now in peace. Never be afraid. God will go with you each hour of every day. Go now in faith, steadfast, strong and true. Know He will guide you in all you do. Go now in love, and show you believe. Reach out to others so all the world can see. God will be there watching from above. Go now in peace, in faith, and in love.
