Sophie Graze Schol­ar­ships award­ed today

Con­grat­u­la­tions to the win­ners of the 2019 Sophie Graze Schol­ar­ships for first year col­lege atten­dance: Jarred King — attend­ing RIT for com­put­er engi­neer­ing, Pauli­na Pat­ton — attend­ing the New York Acad­e­my of Dra­mat­ic Arts, and Desiree Holz — attend­ing Itha­ca Col­lege for jour­nal­ism.

7th-12th graders meet down­stairs in the Senior High room for LIFE

The ear­ly gath­er­ing for prayer and Holy Com­mu­nion in the chapel takes place at 8:15 am in July, and at 8:45 am through­out the month of August.

Sum­mer LIFE meets Sun­days at 10 am & Fri­days at 6 pm in July & August.

Bless­ings in a Back­pack food col­lec­tion

Dur­ing this sum­mer,  Bless­ings in a Back­pack is col­lect­ing fruit and grain bars for Sey­mour School. Any brand or fla­vor is great – just no nuts. We do this so we will be ready to feed 200 chil­dren each week­end dur­ing the school year. Hun­gry chil­dren need to do school­work and not be dis­tract­ed by a “rum­bling tum­my”. Thank you for con­tin­ued sup­port of this pro­gram. Infor­ma­tion is at the col­lec­tion bin in the church cor­ri­dor.

Out­reach will pre­pare and serve Sun­day din­ner — a cook­out — at Brown Memo­r­i­al UMC on August 4. Please sign up on the Out­reach bul­letin board to pro­vide food. Note the dates for when items are due. Out­reach mem­bers are avail­able in Fel­low­ship Hall after ser­vices to col­lect dona­tions. Pur­chase $5 BOGO coupons good on any ser­vice — wash, inte­ri­or clean­ing, etc. Coupons good for $5 off until August 7, and $2 off after that through Sep­tem­ber.

Olive Branch Women’s Group gath­er­ings begin Sep­tem­ber 23

Olive Branch is open to all women. It meets one Mon­day a month, begin­ning at 5:30 pm with appe­tiz­ers fol­lowed by a light potluck or catered din­ner at 6 pm. There is a dif­fer­ent and inter­est­ing pro­gram every month from 7:15 to 8 pm. New and excit­ing pro­grams are being planned for this year. As soon as they are con­firmed, a pro­gram book­let will be dis­trib­uted. This year, Deb­bie Chriss­ley, Kay Phillips, Vick­ie Good­win, and Gin­ny Tilden are sched­ul­ing the pre­sen­ters.

A group of more than 20 women divide into small groups to share din­ner respon­si­bil­i­ties each month. Cost for din­ner is $5. This con­tri­bu­tion is payable at the door. Reser­va­tions are required the week before so the chef knows how much to pre­pare.

Save these dates: Sep­tem­ber 23, Octo­ber 28, Novem­ber 25, Decem­ber 16, Jan­u­ary 27, Feb­ru­ary 24, March 23, April 27, May 18, and June 22.

Remem­ber to wear a name tag

Help Pas­tor Bob Vizthum get to know you by wear­ing a name tag.

Tags are stored some­what alpha­bet­i­cal­ly in the hold­ers locat­ed in the main hall by the coat rack. You may return your tag to the hold­er most con­ve­nient for you (in the narthex, by the back ele­va­tor, or the main hall).

There are new pur­ple rib­bon cords on each rack for you to use should you wish .If you don’t have one, please fill out a stick­er at the Infor­ma­tion Cen­ter table in the cor­ri­dor.

200th Anniver­sary Cel­e­bra­tion — Sep­tem­ber, 2020

Cel­e­brat­ing the Past, Embrac­ing the Future

Our con­gre­ga­tion was formed in 1820. Next fall we will cel­e­brate 200 years in Liv­er­pool!

Susan Slenker, church librar­i­an and his­to­ri­an, invites mem­bers of all com­mis­sions and com­mit­tees, and any oth­er inter­est­ed church mem­bers, to join the 200th Com­mit­tee.  
A num­ber of peo­ple have expressed inter­est. Pre­lim­i­nary plan­ning with Gin­ny Tilden this sum­mer has led to an out­line of a year-long cel­e­bra­tion, where all main church events will car­ry a 200th anniver­sary logo, to empha­size this church’s ongo­ing his­to­ry. Con­tact Gin­ny Tilden or Sue Slenker ASAP or leave your name with the church office staff at 315–457-5180. First plan­ning meet­ing is ten­ta­tive­ly set for Tues­day, August 27, at 7 pm.
