Lord God, you call us your children in Christ Jesus, and that is who we are. We come to you now with child-like faith asking for your favor and touch in our lives. CHORAL ANTHEM

His Love Never Fails  by Pamela Martin & Craig Courtney

THE WRITTEN WORD First John 3:1–3; Acts 1:6–8

1 See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. 2 Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. 3 All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.

6 Then they gathered around him and asked him, “Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?”

7 He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”  — NIV

QUESTIONS OF LIFE AND FAITH

 •  How much does God love us according to 1 John 3:1? What does that mean?

•   What can the believer eventually expect to be?

•   What are we to do in the meantime to grow in that direction according to 1 John 3:3?

•   What does that mean on a practical, daily basis?

•   According to Acts 1, what is the believers primary purpose in this world? How do we do that?
