Trinity Sunday

Gott der Vater wohn’ uns bei BuxWV 190 — Dietrich Buxtehude

CONGREGATIONAL INTROIT #328 Surely the Presence of the Lord

Leader: This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.

People: Praise the Lord

Leader: We are gathered in His house to hear the love of Christ for others and God’s faithfulness to past generations.

All: But we also look to the future as well as the past.

Leader: The God who was with our ancestors is with us as well.

All: Then we can go forward in hope. Whatever else fails, God remains faithful. Nothing can separate us from the love of God! Praise be to God!

Leader: May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

All: And also with you. Amen.

O God, our help in ages past, It was you who led the Israelites through the wilderness

A pillar of fire by night and a pillar of cloud by day. We pray that you will guide the vulnerable and desperate migrants

Who today search out new hope and new life. As they search for a way out

As they board ships and trucks and cross fences

As they carry children and walk for miles

Lord of mercy, protect them Lord. Amen.

HYMN #378 Amazing Grace (verses 1, 2 & 6)

CHILDREN’S MESSAGE Pastor Blessed U. Sikhosana-Bird

CONGREGATIONAL CALL TO PRAYER #496Sweet Hour of Prayer (verse 1)

This, then, is how you should pray:

Our Father who art in heaven
Hallowed be your name
Your kingdom come
Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our trespasses
As we forgive those who trespass against us
And lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from the evil
For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory
Forever and ever. Amen

PRESENTING OUR GIFTS #234 Come All Ye Faithful (refrain)

FELLOWSHIP CHORUS #364 Because He Lives

Because He lives I can face tomorrow. Because He lives all fear is gone. Because I know He holds the future, and life is worth the living just because He lives.

THE WRITTEN WORD Matthew 25: 31–46

When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, He will sit on his glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on His right and the goats on His left.

“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ “The King will reply, ‘truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’ “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’ “He will reply, ‘truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’ “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”

Leader: The word of God for the People of God

  People: Thanks be to God

 • How should my life (words, actions and decisions) reflect my relationship and pursuit of Christ?

 • How did Jesus model Love and Service to the poor?

 • How can my own life model Christ’s love to the poor?

 • Why should Christians have an active heart for serving the poor?

MESSAGE Pastor Blessed U. Sikhosana-Bird

Grant, O Lord, that what has been said with our lips we may believe in our hearts, And that what we believe in our hearts we may practice in our lives Through Jesus Christ, Our Lord, Amen.

Go now in peace. Never be afraid. God will go with you each hour of every day. Go now in faith, steadfast, strong and true. Know He will guide you in all you do. Go now in love, and show you believe. Reach out to others so all the world can see. God will be there watching from above. Go now in peace, in faith, and in love.
