Advent study begins Sun­day, Decem­ber 2

O. Hen­ry wrote a short sto­ry enti­tled The Gift of the Magi that has inspired many. Pas­tor Bri­an Homan will lead a four-week study on the sto­ry from 3 to 4 pm on Sun­days dur­ing Advent, begin­ning Decem­ber 2. 

Ser­vice of Remem­brance, Decem­ber 7

Cler­gy mem­bers from sev­er­al Liv­er­pool church­es lead a memo­r­i­al ser­vice at St. Matthew’s Epis­co­pal Church on Vine Street in Liv­er­pool, this Fri­day at 7 pm. Spon­sored by Mau­r­er Funer­al Home, it offers an oppor­tu­ni­ty to remem­ber loved ones that have passed away. All are wel­come.

Par­ents Time Out — Decem­ber 8, 11 am

Par­ents, drop your chil­dren off at church and enjoy time to shop, wrap gifts, or relax. Chil­dren can make crafts, enjoy piz­za, dec­o­rate cook­ies, and par­tic­i­pate in games and sto­ries led by our LIFE Youth Min­istries group. Sign up down­stairs or in Fel­low­ship Hall so that we know how many to expect. Host­ed by the Hos­pi­tal­i­ty & Fel­low­ship Team.

Chan­cel Choir Can­ta­ta — Decem­ber 16

The choir will per­form the can­ta­ta, God Came Near by Tom Fet­tke and Max Luca­do on Decem­ber 16 at the 9:30 & 11 am ser­vices. Guest musi­cians and con­gre­ga­tion mem­bers will par­tic­i­pate along with the choir.

UMW col­lects Gifts for Baby Jesus 

The Unit­ed Methodist Women’s group is col­lect­ing baby items to give to the Teen MOPS (moth­ers of preschool­ers) group that meets in our build­ing. A list of items need­ed is post­ed on a col­lec­tion box in the foy­er. Dona­tions will be col­lect­ed through­out Advent, con­clud­ing on Christ­mas Day.

Have fun with church his­to­ry. Pick up a hand­out of pho­tos of the church and its activ­i­ties from the past. See how many of the dates of the pho­tos you can guess cor­rect­ly. They are in a bin at the Infor­ma­tion Cen­ter.

Bid on a Quilt for Christ­mas Giv­ing

Silent auc­tion: Decem­ber 2–9. Quilt on dis­play in hall­way. Per­fect for gift giv­ing or per­son­al use. Place your bid, name, and phone num­ber on bid sheet locat­ed on hall table. High­est bid­der will be noti­fied after Decem­ber 9. Quilt­ing min­istry will use mon­ey for sup­plies.

Bless­ings in a Back­pack needs pud­ding cups

Liv­er­pool chap­ter of BIB pro­vides week­end food for 200 of the 672 qual­i­fy­ing stu­dents at Sey­mour School on Syracuse’s south­west side. Infor­ma­tion is avail­able at the col­lec­tion bas­ket in the church hall­way.

Fam­i­ly Min­istries needs can­dy & snacks

Indi­vid­u­al­ly wrapped can­dy, fruit snacks, or mini packs of cook­ies or crack­ers may be left in the col­lec­tion box.

Week­ly Study Through the Bible

Pas­tor Bri­an Homan leads a week­ly study of scrip­ture on Mon­days at 1 pm. 

Knit or cro­chet with Prayer­ful Threads
Knit or cro­chet scarves, hats and mit­tens for peo­ple in need, and blan­kets and sweaters for chil­dren. Join them the first and third Sun­days of the month at 2 pm, or work on your own.

Come tie knots with the Prayer Quilt Min­istry

The Prayer Quilt Min­istry needs vol­un­teers to tie quilts togeth­er with square knots. They meet Tues­days from 10 am until noon. Con­tact the church at 315–457-5180.
