Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott BuxWV 184 — Dietrich Buxtehude

CHORAL INTROIT Sing Praise and Glory arr. by Patrick Liebergen

CALL TO WORSHIP Revelation 5. 11–13

One: I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders. In a loud voice they sang:

All: “Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!”

One: Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, singing:

All: “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!”

One: Then let us join our voices to those of heaven and honor the powerful name of Jesus!

HYMN #154 All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name

CONGREGATIONAL PRAYER

O God of Creation, who existed before anything we know came into being, we thank you for revealing your personhood through Jesus, who is one with you. We praise you for his sharing our humanity and suffering the injustices of life. We thank you for his willing sacrifice to reveal your love for us and your willingness to forgive our sins. We praise you for his resurrection and his expected return to claim and reign over this world. Along with the angels of heaven with those who have preceded us in faith, we praise the glorious name of Jesus who is our Savior and the Leader of our lives. Before the world shall bow before his authority we acknowledge his rightful place and submit our lives, our hopes and dreams, our opinions, values and energy to his use. May this time of worship be that time of surrender to him, the Lamb of God who sits upon the throne. Amen.
