QUESTIONS OF LIFE & FAITH

  • What is God’s meaning for marriage and family according to the Bible?
  • Is marriage God’s design for man and wife?
  • How should you treat your spouse and children in a way that is pleasing to God?

PRELUDE(9:55 am) A time to reflect and prepare to hear God

Breathe by Marie Barnett, arr. by Mark Hayes Nancy B. James, piano

This is the air I breathe, this is the air I breathe. Your holy presence, living in me. This is my daily bread, this is my daily bread. Your very word, spoken to me. And I, I’m desperate for You, and I, I’m lost without You. Oh Lord, I’m lost without You, I’m lost without You. This is the air I breathe, this is the air I breathe. Your holy presence, living in me.

INTROIT(10 am)Seek Ye First, #405

Seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness. And all these things shall be added unto you, Allelu Alleluia. Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word. That proceeds from the mouth of God, Allelu Alleluia.

CALL TO WORSHIP Psalms 127 NIV

One: Unless the LORD builds the house, the builders’ labor is in vain. All:Unless the LORD watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain.

One: In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat— for he grants sleep to those he loves.

All:Children are a heritage from the LORD, offspring a reward from him.

One: Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth.

All:Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their opponents in court.

HYMN #92 For the Beauty of the Earth

OPENING PRAYER

God our Father, Creator of all things, true source of light and wisdom, origin of all that is: Thank you for calling me to faith, for planting your Word in my heart, and for delivering me from my sin. Thank you for calling me to your service, for giving me the ability to teach your Word and share this good news with others. I am overwhelmed at the thought of teaching on the gospel. I feel so inadequate to deliver something of value about news that is priceless. I am unworthy to be given the privilege of thinking deeply about news too marvelous for angels to comprehend. Be ever gracious to me. Let a ray of your light penetrate the darkness of my understanding. Give me confidence in the power of your gospel. Grant me clarity in understanding and proclaiming the truths of your Word. Edify your church through today and forevermore through this work.

FELLOWSHIP CHORUS #2226 Bind Us Together

THE WRITTEN WORD  Ephesians 5:25–33   Mark 10:9

“Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish. In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church.”

“Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”

BLESSING& SENDING

Go now, and live in the spirit of your Lord your God, even when you are led into wild and hard places. With repentance and trust for one another, give yourselves to God, and with fasting and prayer bring your burdens to God, strengthen yourselves against the ways of the tempter. And may God enfold you in tender and lasting love. May Christ be beside you in times of struggles. And may the Spirit guide you back to the path whenever you stray, that you may keep your families under the house of God.

We go in peace to love one another and serve the Lord with all our hearts & might and He shall direct thy paths. Go well In the name of Christ. Amen.
