PASSING THE PEACE OF CHRIST

FELLOWSHIP CHORUS #2226 Bind Us Together

Bind us together, Lord, bind us together with cords that cannot be broken. Bind us together, Lord, bind us together, bind us together in love. There is only one God; there is only one King; There is only one Body; that is why we sing. (chorus repeat)

THE WRITTEN WORD  Ephesians 4:25–5:2

Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are all members of one body. “In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold. He who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with his own hands, that he may have something to share with those in need. Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children, and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

QUESTIONS OF LIFE & FAITH

  • How have your attitudes, thoughts and actions changed as you have grown in your faith in Christ?
  • When has anger gotten the best of you?
  • What triggers anger within you?
  • How well do you deal with it?

SONG OF LONGING#2167 More Like You

More like You, Jesus, more like You. Fill my heart with Your
desire to make me more like You. More like You, Jesus, more
like You. Touch my lips with holy fire and make me more like You

SPIRITUAL CONVERSATION Getting a Grip on Anger

PRAYER

O God of compassion, if you kept a record of our sins, who could stand? We come before you with our brokenness and our wounds for all to see. We bring our anger, our bitterness, our unwholesome talk, and our deceitfulness. We try to do good, but sometimes fail. We choose to do evil, and sometimes succeed. Keep your promise to forgive us when we confess to you completely. Without you, we have no hope.
