Help supply and deliver spring gift baskets to homebound members

A collection basket is in the church corridor for donations for spring gift baskets. Members of the Hospitality & Fellowship Team will deliver these baskets on April 22. Donations needed at church by April 15: items such as pocket tissues, lotions, hand sanitizer, cards, pens, mini coloring books, colored pencils, and stationery. We also need volunteers to help deliver the baskets. Please sign up in Fellowship Hall to help deliver.

 

2018 Sophie Graze Scholarship applications available

Sophie Graze Church Scholarships are awarded to graduating high school seniors and, for 2018, returning students for their second year of higher education. Karen Gloyd can answer questions. Applications, available in the church office, are due May 15. Contact Kate at 315-457-5180 to get an application.

 

Support recovery – donate personal care items

The youth group is collecting for Syracuse Teen Challenge, a program that helps people with addiction recover through relationship with Jesus. Needs: men’s toiletries, bleach, laundry detergent, dish soap, toilet paper, loose-leaf paper, spiral bound notebooks. Place in collection box in the church corridor.

 

Senior Ministries Update

For those attending our first overnight trip to Lancaster to see Jesus April 13-15, arrive at the church by 8 am for departure at 8:30 am. There still is limited space on the following events/trips:  June 6 Dinner at Borio’s with entertainment by The Soda Ash Trio; July 31 Motor coach trip to Raquette Lake for a luncheon cruise and tour of The Adirondack Museum; September 6 Motor coach trip to Cortland – lunch @ The Sherman House followed by Cortland Repertory’s  “Rat Pack Lounge”.  For more details, check out our table in Fellowship Hall.

 

Like to sew? Help finish quilts at your home

The LFUMC Prayer Quilt Ministry needs people willing to sew at home to sew binding onto quilts. Contact Jean Jackson at 315-635-7863.

 

Blessings in a Backpack collection: breakfast bars

Blessings in a Backpack is collecting breakfast bars in April. They must not contain nuts. Store and brand suggestions at collection box in the church corridor. Provide hungry school children with weekend meals.

Knit or crochet with Prayerful Threads
Members of the Prayerful Threads group knit or crochet scarves, hats and mittens for people in need, and blankets and sweaters for children that are baptized in our church. Join them on the first and third Sundays of each month at 2 p.m., or work on your own at home and coordinate with facilitator Paula Lamberson. Call the church at 315-457-5180 for information.

If you are recovering from illness, surgery or injury you may appreciate home-cooked meals. If you would like to receive meals from church volunteers, contact the church at 315-457-5180.

 

UMM Learn to Pray Group offered at Little Utica UMC

Project Christina donations support foster children

Bless foster children through Project Christina by donating stuffed toys, reusable tote bags, and books. Information is located near the collection box in Fellowship Hall.

5 cents makes a difference to our youth programs
Donate 5-cent returnable bottles & cans to church, or to MSK Returns on Rt. 57, for the LFUMC Youth account for Christian Education & Family Ministries.
