Announcements for December 24

Bible Stud­ies, Through the Bible, will not meet until Mon­day, Jan­u­ary 8 and Wednes­day, Jan­u­ary 10. The groups will begin the study of the Book of Judges. Our study on Sun­day at 9:30 a.m. will meet again on  Jan­u­ary 14 and will com­plete their study on the Book of Deuteron­o­my.

Next Sun­day, Decem­ber 31st, we willl have only the two ser­vices: com­mu­nion at 8:15 a.m. in our down­stairs chapel and a 9:30 a.m. cel­e­bra­tion in the sanc­tu­ary. You are invit­ed to help us cel­e­brate the min­istry of Cathy Tem­ple, who is retir­ing on Decem­ber 31. A recep­tion will be held in her hon­or fol­low­ing the 9:30 a.m. wor­ship ser­vice.

101 Enve­lope Chal­lenge for children’s min­istry

Help feed school chil­dren in need

Olive­branch has a new project to feed chil­dren: join with St. Paul’s Luther­an church in the “Bless­ings in a Back­pack” pro­gram, to sup­ply inner-city chil­dren with food for the week­end, when they often go with­out. Each month spe­cif­ic food items will be col­lect­ed. Look for infor­ma­tion at a food col­lec­tion con­tain­er next to the pur­ple food pantry bar­rel in the hall­way.

2018 Offer­ing Envelopes avail­able 

Please pick up your 2018 offer­ing envelopes in Fel­low­ship Hall. If you didn’t find them last week, please check again. They are arranged in alpha­bet­i­cal order by last name. If you leave by the front door, remem­ber to pick up your envelopes. Some of you have new enve­lope num­bers so we can reduce the num­ber of box­es we order.

Altar Flow­ers

If you would like to pur­chase altar flow­ers in mem­o­ry of hon­or of some­one spe­cial in your life, please call the church office at 315–457-5180 to make arrange­ments. Dates for 2018 are fill­ing up fast.

Please join us for Christ­mas Eve ser­vices: 5 p.m. Fam­i­ly Ser­vice, 7 and 9 p.m. Can­dle­light with choirs and spe­cial music, and Can­dle­light Com­mu­nion ser­vice at 11 p.m.  

Church shirts avail­able

Stop in Fel­low­ship Hall to pur­chase a long sleeve, blue, den­im shirt embroi­dered with our church logo. Avail­able in var­i­ous sizes for $20. Pro­ceeds sup­port Unit­ed Methodist Men’s mis­sion projects.

Knit or cro­chet with Prayer­ful Threads

Mem­bers of the Prayer­ful Threads group cre­ate hand­made scarves, hats and mit­tens for peo­ple in need, as well as baby blan­kets and sweaters for chil­dren that are bap­tized in our church. Join them when they meet on the first and third Sun­days of each month at 2 p.m., or work on your own at home and coor­di­nate with group facil­i­ta­tor Paula Lam­ber­son. Call the church at 315–457-5180 for infor­ma­tion.

Project Christi­na — toys for chil­dren

Pur­chase a stuffed toy at Kohl’s and tote bags for Ononda­ga Coun­ty Social Ser­vices Fos­ter Care Divi­sion. When chil­dren are removed from their home a toy is giv­en to them. Please place them in the col­lec­tion box in Fel­low­ship Hall.

If you are recov­er­ing from an ill­ness, surgery or injury you may

appre­ci­ate some home-cooked meals. Vol­un­teers pro­vide meals to peo­ple fac­ing such a need. If you would like to receive this assis­tance from church mem­bers, con­tact the church at 315–457-5180.
