ORDER OF WORSHIP FOR SUNDAY
NOVEMBER 5, 2017
INTROIT Joyfully Sing to God Forever (F. J. Haydn)
Who was it God used to lead you faith in Christ?
Who might be looking towards you for inspiration and to point the way for them?
What does the phrase “communion of the saints” that we recite in the Apostle’s Creed mean to you?
PRELUDE Andante Allegro (Organ Concerto op 4 no 6) — G F Händel
*CALL TO WORSHIP
One: We are called by name,
All: Nourished in the streams of prayer,
One: Uplifted by oceans of praise,
All: Strengthened by rivers of kindness.
One: Drawn to your loving embrace through the faithfulness of others.
All: We raise our voices in prayer and praise for the faithfulness of imperfect saints whom you used to touch our lives and open our hearts to your companionship and grace.
Awesome and amazing God, we are not arrogant enough to presume that we have come to you on our own terms or by our own efforts. You have planted the seeds of faith through the faith of others who faithfully witnessed to your truth and who proclaimed our value in your eyes. How grateful we are for them and overwhelmed by the thought that others are looking to us to see your reflection. We then will sing your praises and lift you high so others might look with us to see just how great you are and worthy you are to be praised.
