Dis­as­ter pre­pared­ness train­ing

UMCOR has a train­ing pro­gram which pre­pares folks to work in dis­as­ter sites such as Texas and Flori­da, as well as in our own com­mu­ni­ties. A Basic Ear­ly Response Team class will be held in the Con­fer­ence Cen­ter in Liv­er­pool on Sat­ur­day Oct. 28 From 8 AM to 5 PM.  Require­ments are only that one be 18 or old­er, able to car­ry a buck­et of water up stairs, avail­able on short notice (many are retired). A typ­i­cal ERT trip includes trav­el time and 3 days on-site of actu­al dis­as­ter response. Sup­port flood vic­tims 

A spe­cial offer­ing will be col­lect­ed today to sup­port relief efforts through UMCOR (Unit­ed Methodist Com­mit­tee on Relief) for the vic­tims of hur­ri­canes Irma and Har­vey.

Donate clean­ing items for flood recov­ery

We are col­lect­ing sup­plies to pre­pare clean­ing kits for the UMCOR, which pro­vides dis­as­ter relief around the globe. These kits are shipped to  areas in need, includ­ing Texas and Flori­da. Pick up a sup­ply list at the Infor­ma­tion Cen­ter for details.

Senior Min­istries

For those going to the Spring­side Inn and the Mer­ry Go Round Play­house on Sep­tem­ber 23, please arrive at church at 9:30 a.m. for depar­ture at 10.

The only open event of 2017 is Decem­ber 16: lunch at Phoebe’s fol­lowed by Syra­cuse Stage’s pro­duc­tion of The Wiz­ard of Oz. Infor­ma­tion is in Fel­low­ship Hall.

Sign up to feed Teen MOPS

We pro­vide meals for Teen MOPS meet­ings. This faith-based group pro­vides an oppor­tu­ni­ty for teen moth­ers to gath­er for fel­low­ship and sup­port. About 25 par­tic­i­pants and lead­ers share a meal at their Tues­day meet­ings. Sign up in Fel­low­ship Hall if you can help. A recital by the Voice Fac­ul­ty of SUNY Oswego will be pre­sent­ed on Sun­day, Sept. 24 at 3 p.m. in Tyler Hall on the cam­pus fea­tur­ing Nan­cy B. James, Robert Allen and Todd Graber and pianist, Mihoko Tsut­n­u­mi, offer­ing pop­u­lar clas­si­cal pieces.  Admis­sion is free.
