CALL TO WORSHIP
One: Come, all of you who feel lost, alienated, alone.
Choir: At one time we felt that way – we didn’t belong anywhere.
All: We just wanted somewhere to be.
One: Christ, the Strong Cornerstone of our house, welcomes you.
Choir: Once we were no people
All: Now we are God’s people.
Choir: Once we had no place to dwell
All: Now we live and abide in God’s love.
Gracious God on this day of the festival of the Christian Home, the celebration of Mother’s Day, the witness to the eternal love of Christ, remind us that we are responsible for caring for each other. We are called to lift up rather than tear down; to support rather than abandon, to reach out when others have turned away. Give us hearts of love that, in all places and times, we may be a witness to the hope that is found in Jesus Christ. AMEN.

QUESTIONS OF LIFE & FAITH
Why would the apostle Paul call the generosity of the Macedonian Christians a “grace” God has given them?
Where do you struggle the most – in faith, in speech, in knowledge, earnestness, love for the Church, or giving?
What moves you to be generous with your money, time and energy?
MEDITATION Motivations for Generosity Rev. Dr. Brian Homan
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Patient God, you know how easy it is for us to stray. We wander off easily and are distracted by so many concerns. We hold back out of fear you will not protect and provide for us. We are not free in our hearts or fully committed to you. Our light to your love to the darkness of the world is dimmed due to the strings we attach to our willingness to follow you. We express our concern for the lost only to discover we ourselves are lost. Forgive us, we pray. Heal our brokenness and our fears. Remind us again that you lead us in gentle paths and by quiet waters – when the paths are stony and the waves tumultuous, help us to remember your protection and your care. Help us to extend that same love and care to others, for we ask this in Jesus’ Name.
