Food Dona­tions

On the first Sun­day of every month we cel­e­brate Holy Com­mu­nion at Liv­er­pool First UMC. We ask that dry and canned food dona­tions be brought to the altar rail before each ser­vice in sup­port of the Food Pantry housed at St. Joseph the Work­er Church in Liv­er­pool. We will do this every com­mu­nion Sun­day. I hope you will join us in this ser­vice of com­pas­sion.

Plant Sale — May 13

Notice the beau­ti­ful plants in front of the altar.  You will have an oppor­tu­ni­ty to pur­chase your very own hang­ing plant (s) on Sat., May 13 in John­son Park, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Your pur­chase will help sup­port sum­mer mis­sion projects and you, your moth­er, or grand­moth­er will enjoy their beau­ty all sum­mer long. Cash and checks accept­ed, but no cred­it cards, please.

Snow­birds invit­ed — May 16

The Hos­pi­tal­i­ty Team invites snow­birds to a wel­come back recep­tion of straw­ber­ries, angel food cake, and whipped cream at 7 p.m. on May 16 in the Memo­r­i­al Lounge. A snow­bird is any­one who spent any amount of time in a warmer cli­mate dur­ing the cold win­ter months.

60 Years A Pen Pal

In 1956 a girl named Yuki in Okaya­ma, Japan, began cor­re­spond­ing with Mary in Athens, Geor­gia. With the excep­tion of about 15 years, Yuki and Mary have com­mu­ni­cat­ed on a year­ly basis. In April 2016, they met in per­son for the first time in Japan. Mary Roberts-Bai­ley will share high­lights of this vis­it. A for­mer social work­er, attor­ney, and law school admin­is­tra­tor, Mary is a mem­ber of Peb­ble Hill Pres­by­ter­ian Church in DeWitt and vol­un­teers at Inter­Faith Works. All women are invit­ed. Appe­tiz­ers are served at 5:30 p.m. meal at 6 p.m. and pro­gram from 7:10 — 8:10 p.m. Cost of the meal is $5. Reserve a meal by con­tact­ing the church at 315–457-5180 or kate.smith@liverpoolfirstumc.org by 11 a.m. on Fri­day, May 19.

5:30  – 6:30 p.m.: Syra­cuse City Church Wit­ness Event at Colum­bus Cir­cle in the city  of Syra­cuse. There will be music, tes­ti­mo­ny, and prayer.

7:30  p.m.: Ded­i­ca­tion of new Con­fer­ence Cen­ter, 7481 Hen­ry Clay Blvd.,  Liv­er­pool

Vol­un­teers need­ed for June 3 BBQ

The 21st annu­al Chick­en BBQ will be held on June 3. Vol­un­teers are need­ed; please sign up on the bul­letin board in Fel­low­ship Hall. The com­mit­tee also needs a vol­un­teer with a small truck or SUV will­ing to help com­mit­tee mem­bers pick up box­es of chick­en from Nichols Super­mar­ket on Fri­day, June 2 at 4:00 and return bins of sea­soned chick­en by 7:00. Church School News

Fam­i­ly Event Noon —  May 21

After the Con­se­cra­tion Brunch, join us for a Fam­i­ly Friend­ly after­noon! There will be movies to choose from, fol­lowed by the chil­dren (and any will­ing adults) to assem­ble bags of can­dy to adver­tise our church & VBS dur­ing the Memo­r­i­al Day Parade! The day will end with piz­za and ice cream sun­daes! If weath­er per­mits, we may have some out­door fun for the kids or kids at heart, so come dressed casu­al and com­fort­able to church on May 21.

Memo­r­i­al Day Parade

We are invit­ing all Sun­day School and DELTA chil­dren, their fam­i­lies and any “child at heart” adults to join us for the Memo­r­i­al Day Parade! Watch the bul­letin for details!

Can­dy Dona­tions
