Olive­branch Wom­en’s Group meets Feb­ru­ary 27

Mike Wolozyn, choco­lati­er and own­er of Lune Choco­lat, will share tales of growth in this local spe­cial­ty can­dy com­pa­ny and the sto­ry of choco­late. It will be an evening of sen­so­ry treats: see, feel, and smell cocao beans and forms of choco­late and taste choco­late treats. All women are invit­ed to attend din­ner at 6 p.m. (come at 5:30 p.m. for appe­tiz­ers) or just to the pro­gram at 7:10 p.m. Call the church office at 457‑5180 for a din­ner reser­va­tion by 11 a.m. on Feb. 24.

Shrove Tues­day pan­cake sup­per: Feb. 28

The Out­reach Com­mit­tee is serv­ing a pan­cake sup­per from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Feb. 28 to cel­e­brate Shrove Tues­day, the last day before the sea­son of Lent begins on Ash Wednes­day. There will be a short prayer ser­vice at 6:30 p.m. A free will offer­ing will be accept­ed to sup­port mis­sion projects.

Vol­un­teers need­ed to pro­vide meals for MOPS

The Out­reach Com­mis­sion is seek­ing indi­vid­u­als, pairs, or groups to fur­nish meals for the Teen MOPS group of young moth­ers, their chil­dren and their sup­port­ers for the fol­low­ing meet­ings: March 28, April 11, April 25 and May 9. Please sign up on the sheet post­ed in Fel­low­ship Hall, and also noti­fy Kay Phillips or Kate Smith at 315–457-5180.

Project Christi­na — toys for chil­dren

Would you like to help a child in cri­sis? Pur­chase a $5 stuffed toy from Kohl’s where the pro­ceeds go to Golisano’s Chil­dren’s Hos­pi­tal, and the toy is giv­en to the Ononda­ga Coun­ty Social Ser­vices Fos­ter Care Divi­sion. When chil­dren  are removed from their home a stuffed toy will be giv­en to them to help ease their pain. We also accept  new stuffed toys pur­chased else­where, books and re usable child friend­ly tote bags. There is a red col­lec­tion box in Fel­low­ship Hall.

Souper thanks!

Out­reach & Mis­sions thanks every­one who donat­ed to Souper Bowl Sun­day and Love Lights.  We deliv­ered approx­i­mate­ly 600 cans of soup to our local food pantry and sent a check for more than $200 to the Food Bank of Cen­tral New York. It is great­ly appre­ci­at­ed.

Used piano avail­able

A Bald­win spinet piano, cur­rent­ly in the Memo­r­i­al Lounge, is avail­able for a dona­tion to the church. It has tun­ing issues, so is “as is”. A good instru­ment for begin­ners. You will need to move it your­self. Call the church office or see Kate if inter­est­ed, 315–457-5180.

Note to men­tors of col­lege stu­dents

Thank you to mem­bers who have sent notes, prayers, scrip­ture, and treats to our col­lege stu­dents. There are lots of oppor­tu­ni­ties this semes­ter to reach out to them with cards: St. Patrick­’s Day, East­er, and encour­age­ment for final exams. Exams begin for some at the end of April and ear­ly May, as grad­u­a­tions are the first two weeks of May, so all final mes­sages to them should be sent by the end of April.

Lenten Fish Din­ners — March 3 & 24

Fri­day, March 3, and Fri­day, March 24, are the dates for our Lenten Fish Din­ners. These are full had­dock din­ners fea­tur­ing fish fresh from Boston, home­made 3‑cheese mac­a­roni & cheese, cole slaw, Ital­ian bread, dessert, and bev­er­age. Adult dona­tion is $10. Youth 5–12 is $4. Under 5 is free. Din­ners are PRESALE ONLY. Order using the forms below or sign up in Fel­low­ship Hall.

The video series Dri­ve Thru His­to­ry-The Gospels meets Wednes­days at 11:30 a.m. in the Gath­er­ing Room down­stairs (bring your lunch) and again at 6:30  p.m. (dessert & cof­fee will be pro­vid­ed.) You’ve nev­er seen the gospels until you’ve dri­ven through them with David Stotts! Join any Wednes­day, no sign-up need­ed.

Help cre­ate a Memo­r­i­al Day parade float

Mem­bers of Liv­er­pool First UMC would like to plan, build, and ride a float in the vil­lage of Liv­er­pool’s Memo­r­i­al Day parade on May 29. We hope to have mem­bers of all ages take part. A com­mit­tee is need­ed to begin plan­ning now. Sign up on the sheet post­ed in Fel­low­ship Hall, or con­tact Pam Mack­ie or Kate Smith at 315.457.180 to indi­cate your inter­est.
