Olive­branch wom­en’s group meets tomorow night

Every­one is wel­come to attend the pro­gram at 7:15 p.m. Learn how the church’s hand­bells and chimes ring and make dif­fer­ent sounds. Our Direc­tor of Hand­bells, Becky Dun­stone, will give us the oppor­tu­ni­ty to cre­ate a song. The pro­gram is very dif­fer­ent than the one done for the Seniors.

Senior Min­istries Upcom­ing Event

Sun­day, March 19  Syra­cuse Stage’s pro­duc­tion of  Ain’t Mis­be­havin

Step back into the nightlife of a 1930s  jazz club in this cel­e­bra­tion of jazz leg­end Fats Waller. Waller’s music helped define the swing­ing sound of the Gold­en Age of the Cot­ton Club.  820 East Gene­see St., Syra­cuse 2 p.m. mati­nee — $32 per per­son. Your check is your reser­va­tion (make payable to LFUMC Senior Min­istries and place in Senior Min­istries mail­box or mail to Sarah Biel­ing 2 Cty Rte 10, Pen­nel­lville 13132.)  There are only  34 seats avail­able so don’t delay. Checks/reservations must be received by Feb­ru­ary 19.  Your own trans­porta­tion is required.

Sheets and tow­els need­ed for new Amer­i­cans

The Out­reach Com­mis­sion has learned from the Cen­ter for New Amer­i­cans of the urgent need for twin sheets and tow­els. For two weeks we are col­lect­ing new or gen­tly used (no stains or tears please) twin sheets and tow­els of all sizes. These may be left at the church offices until Feb­ru­ary 1.

Vol­un­teers need­ed to pro­vide Teen MOPS din­ners

The Out­reach com­mis­sion is seek­ing indi­vid­u­als, pairs, or groups to fur­nish meals for this group of young moth­ers, their chil­dren and their sup­port­ers. Please sign up on the bul­letin board in Fel­low­ship Hall and email Kay Phillips (karoli@twcny.rr.com ) your date of choice and let the church office know. The fol­low­ing dates are open for some­one or group to sup­ply food: March 28, April 11. April 25 and May 9.

Thanks for the birth­day wish­es

Sun­day morn­ing ush­ers need­ed

Would you like to help by ush­er­ing on Sun­day morn­ings? We hope to have many peo­ple sign up so you would­n’t need to do it too often. Please sign up on the sheets in Fel­low­ship Hall for a Sun­day in Jan­u­ary or Feb­ru­ary, or con­tact Tom Pelkey on Sun­day morn­ings.

Pan­cakes are com­ing — Jan­u­ary 29

The  Unit­ed Methodist Men will host a pan­cake break­fast on Sun­day, Jan­u­ary 29 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. in Fel­low­ship Hall. There is no fee for the break­fast, but please con­sid­er mak­ing a gen­er­ous offer­ing to con­tin­ue tuition pay­ments for “Maxo” Luc­serne, the Hait­ian stu­dent that they spon­sor. The menu includes pan­cakes, sausages, apple sauce and bev­er­ages.

 

Brady Bread for sale Jan­u­ary 29 & March 5

Fresh-baked cin­na­mon bread will be sold for $3 a loaf dur­ing cof­fee hour on Jan­u­ary 29 and March 5. Pro­ceeds ben­e­fit Brady Min­istries (jail min­istry and ped­als for pos­si­bil­i­ties).

Not a Fan study meets Wednes­days at 6:30 p.m.

You are invit­ed to attend a Wednes­day evening study at 6:30 p.m. Jan­u­ary 18 — Feb­ru­ary 15. Based on the book, Not a Fan: Becom­ing a Com­plete­ly Com­mit­ted Fol­low­er of Jesus, by Kyle Idle­man, which calls you to con­sid­er the demands and rewards of being a true dis­ci­ple.

Campbell’s Soup “Labels for Edu­ca­tion” pro­gram

The Labels for Edu­ca­tion pro­gram has end­ed. If you have any Campbell’s prod­ucts at home that still car­ry the cut-off label, please turn those in by May 30.  Redemp­tion ends in August. The church will still be a col­lec­tion point for oth­er “edu­ca­tion” labels, so please con­tin­ue to save and turn in.

Souper Bowl Sun­day

We will col­lect soup for the food pantry until Feb­ru­ary 5. Buy some soup now and get ready for Souper Bowl Sun­day.

Valen­tine’s Day at Bel­la Domani

Mem­bers of Liv­er­pool First  plan to gath­er at Bel­la Domani in North Syra­cuse for a coun­try-style buf­fet meal, fol­lowed by music pro­vid­ed by the TJ Sac­co Band. Tick­ets must be pur­chased in advance; cost is $49.95 (plus tax) per cou­ple. The event is Feb­ru­ary 14 from 5 to 10 p.m. at 5988 East Taft Rd., North Syra­cuse.
