THE THIRD CANDLE of ADVENT: The Candle of Love
Come Child of Light by Lloyd Larson — Sara Bailey, flute & Chancel Choir
Amy & Kevin Odell (9:00), Lisa & Todd Smith (11:00)
CALL TO WORSHIP
One: Wars and rumors of war, persistent poverty, social unrest, political intrigue …
All: Where is God in all this?
One: Suffering families, dying children, human greed and avarice …
All: Where is God in all this?
One: Ancient predictions, a virgin mother, a vision of angels, and a manger birth …
All: Can this story really be true? Can God be present in this?
One: Love came down at Christmas! God came, and God remains!
All: Why not be more direct? Why so covert a response to human need?
One: Love is not forced or coerced; love is invited; love is embraced; love is
discovered in the struggle and faith is the key to unleashing its power.
All: God came; God suffered and loved; God and love prevailed – this is our hope
as we await the birth of love.
God of Glory, we rejoice in the good news of your promises. Come into our parched world and shower us with your gushing, abundant water of life and love. Enter into our brokenness, and renew us with the strength of your love. Be born anew in our hearts and in our world. Come, Jesus; come. We are ready! Amen.

RESPONSE : The King is coming, the King is coming. I just heard the trumpet sounding and soon His face I’ll see. The King is coming, the King is coming, Praise God, He’s coming for me.
