CALL TO WORSHIP Isaiah 11. 1–10

One:  Come, let us worship the Lord our God!

All: For God has promised a shoot from Jesse’s stump, a branch from Jesse’s roots.

One: Jesse was the father of King David, who faithfully led God’s people. God’s

promise is to provide yet again a faithful leader in life.

All:  We give praise for Jesus, who is of the ancestry of David. He is the one for  whom Isaiah speaks.

One: God promised to send us a leader full of wisdom and knowledge, full of the

Spirit of God!

All: We praise God for sending us Jesus, one who is fully human and fully God.

He will judge us in righteousness; He will bring justice and peace upon the  earth.

One:  Let our worship prepare us to follow Him faithfully and prepare the world for

His return.

OPENING PRAYER

Open our eyes and hearts, O Lord, to acknowledge who the Child born in Bethlehem truly is and renew our commitment to place Him in His rightful place as the Leader of our lives. You came once to reveal how we might be forgiven and made whole; Return to right this world, to heal and rule.
