GREETING and QUESTIONS OF LIFE & FAITH

Are we physically raised from death to a physical existence?

What do you imagine heaven to be like?

What difference does it make to what you hope for?

What courage and purpose does the resurrection give you?

PRELUDE   Please be in silent reflection as we prepare ourselves for worship.

Lobe den Herren, den mächtigen König der Ehren — Johann Gottfried Walther

CALL TO WORSHIP

One: Was it just an idle tale about an empty tomb and a missing body?

All: Against all reason this is the witness first of the women and then confirmed by the other disciples.

One: Love is stronger than death

All: Forgiveness flows

One: Healing happens

All: People change

One: Our world is alive with possibility

All: And life does not end with death

One: All because Jesus is risen

All: And we shall rise with Him

OPENING PRAYER

Mighty God! What is beyond your ability to accomplish? You created all there is and certainly you can raise us from death to life. By your power you raised your Son, our Lord Jesus from death. By His glorious resurrection, you proved Him victor over death; and you assured all of us, who acknowledge Him as Savior and Lord, that we do not need to fear death either. With grateful hearts we worship you this morning and profess our faith in His and our resurrection because this day and every Sunday is Resurrection Day and we are people of the resurrection. Confirm our faith so that doubt may not consume our confidence in the name of Jesus, the risen one. Amen!
