CALL TO WORSHIP (Adapted from Gathered By Love Lavon Bayler, 2001)

One: Continue, beloved of God, in the fold. God welcomes you in this hour of prayer.

All:   God calls us by name and awaits our coming. God calls us to His own fold.

One: God is like a shepherd caring for God’s own flocks. God is like a gardener,

carefully tending each vine.

All:   Surely God has provided richly for us. Our lives are sustained by God’s good           gifts.

One:  Worship the one who longs for our coming. Sing praise to the one who expects            our faithfulness.

All:    We call on God, who gives us life. May God’s face shine on us to save us.

OUR COMMON PRAYER (unison)

Gracious God, we are surrounded by a rich heritage of faith which we hope to pass on. We are thankful for our spiritual ancestors who guided us in our faith journey. Help us to honor them by following you faithfully. Help us in our fumbling steps to live according to your will. We seek to hear your message for each of us this morning. Teach us how to lay aside our worries and burdens so we may be open to hearing you today. Open our hearts to your call in our worship this morning. Amen
