GREETING & QUESTIONS OF LIFE & FAITH

Who do you identify with; Martha or Mary?

Is God calling you to grow in some area?

Do you trust God will be your guide?

PRELUDE   Please be in silent reflection as we prepare ourselves for worship

Pastorale F‑dur BWV 590 (I/II) — J S Bach

CALL TO WORSHIP (Adapted from Gathered By Love, Lavon Bayler, 2001)

One : Come, people of faith, trusting God’s steadfast love. Take refuge in the eternal     presence.

All:   We want to acknowledge God first in our lives. We seek to rely on a power

    beyond ourselves.

One: Gather in silent awe before the source of all things. Climb God’s holy hill,

giving thanks.

All: We live knowing God’s abundant love for each of us. Teach us to share that

love with others according to God’s sovereign plan.

One: Know that Christ is the image of the invisible God, the one in whom the fullness

of God was pleased to dwell.

All: We are the church, gathered in Christ’s name. We are the body of Christ,

    seeking to live faithfully.

OUR COMMON PRAYER (unison)

Gracious and loving God, no matter what our age, we are all still trying to grow as Christians, to become wiser and more obedient to your word and directions. We confess that sometimes we are confused about what to do or think, and we do not feel like the loving, giving disciples you want us to be. Help us as we each grow in faith and teach us more about prayer and discipleship. May we each realize that life has sacred worth and help us share this with those who touch our lives each day. We ask that the Holy Spirit surround each of us today. We thank you for your abundant love for us and for all the creatures of the world. Amen.
