GREETING

QUESTIONS OF LIFE and FAITH

• What signs of God’s presence do you notice around you?

• Where have you seen glimpses of God’s Kingdom emerging?

• To whom is your life a sign of God’s presence, power, and possibilities?

PRELUDE Joy and Elation by Cynthia Dobrinski Wesley Ringers Bell Choir

CALL TO WORSHIP (responsively)

ONE: All heaven and earth proclaim the wonders of God’s creative presence.

ALL: We come together to praise God for a world filled with beauty and possibility.

ONE: Together, we are Christ’s body, and individually each of us is a member of it.

ALL: We gather to be put back together, to re-member the Body of Christ.

ONE: The Holy Spirit has given each of us different gifts,

and the ability to respond for the good of the whole body.

ALL: We celebrate the freedom and response-abilities the Holy Spirit gives us, and the grace we have received, as we worship the Lord together.

OUR COMMON PRAYER (unison)

God of Moses, Miriam, and Aaron, you call us as you called those of ancient times: bringing your extraordinary love into ordinary lives. As through a shrub alight with divine fire, you reveal that our common days are steeped in holiness and mystery. We confess that we fail to recognize that all ground is holy ground, or that our routine lives are encompassed by splendor, or that today is the day when you call us to do your work. Forgive us, God. Free us to see the blessing of your presence, and give us the strength to live as you call us. Amen.

PRESENTATIONS

LITANY OF FAREWELL (responsively)

Pastor Alison: I thank you, members and friends of Liverpool First United Methodist Church, for the love and support you have shared with me while I have ministered among you. I am grateful for the ways my leadership has been accepted. I ask your forgiveness for the mistakes I have made, especially if something I said or did or failed to do caused hurt. As I leave, I carry with me all that I have

learned here.

Congregation: We receive your thankfulness, offer our forgiveness, and accept that you now leave us to minister elsewhere. We are thankful for your time among us. We ask forgiveness for our mistakes. Your influence on our faith will not end with your departure.

Pastor Alison: I accept your gratitude and forgiveness, and I forgive you, trusting that both our time together and our parting are pleasing to God. I will no longer be

your pastor. I will no longer officiate at your baptisms, weddings, or funerals, but my love and prayers for you will continue.

Congregation: Eternal God, whose steadfast love never ends, we give you thanks for cherished memories. We commend one another into your care as we

move in new directions. Keep us one in your love forever, through Jesus

Christ our Lord. Amen.
