Wes­ley Ringers Con­cert

Please join us for a hand­bell con­cert April 10 at 4 p.m. in the sanc­tu­ary.  A free will offer­ing will be tak­en to sup­port the Red Bird Mis­sion trip.  Dessert will be served in the Fel­low­ship Hall fol­low­ing the con­cert.

White Rib­bon Cam­paign for Vera House

Please sup­port Vera House, a local non-prof­it orga­ni­za­tion that seeks to end domes­tic and sex­u­al vio­lence and abuse, pro­vides ser­vices to the vic­tims, edu­cates our com­mu­ni­ty about these ter­ri­ble acts, and attempts to change abu­sive behav­iors. You may  use the spe­cial envelopes found in the pew racks, marked V.H. (for Vera House), and please con­sid­er a gen­er­ous dona­tion to this impor­tant cause.

Logen’s shoe­box

Logen Hustedt has autism and requires a guide dog to keep him safe and to help him learn. Logen is the son of Steve Hustedt, direc­tor of com­mu­ni­ca­tions for Upper New York UMC, and their fam­i­ly attends Liv­er­pool First. To raise the funds required to pur­chase and pro­vide train­ing an autism dog and train­ing for the fam­i­ly, they are col­lect­ing used shoes to be recy­cled. The Unit­ed Methodist Men are sup­port­ing this mis­sion by col­lect­ing shoes. Dur­ing March, please bring used shoes to church.

Church tag sale

SPRING CLEANING time is here and the church tag sale can use the house­hold   items you’re ready to part with! Books, toys, usable appli­ances, cos­tume  jew­el­ry (no cloth­ing and large fur­ni­ture please), dish­es, col­lectibles, décor items, plants, tools, vinal records, etc. are need­ed. The sale will be April 15 and 16, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Items can be placed in the box in the back foy­er after East­er. The sale will ben­e­fit UMW and Out­reach mis­sions. Ques­tions? Par­ents and Col­lege stu­dents

Mem­ber Care Com­mis­sion sent East­er greet­ings to all stu­dents who have updat­ed cam­pus address­es. We are seek­ing to update the remain­ing stu­dents in order to send a note before finals. Would you call the church office with their cur­rent cam­pus address if you wish your stu­dent to be on our list. Thank you.

 

April Fool’s Day pas­ta din­ner

The Red Bird Mis­sion team is hold­ing a pas­ta din­ner on April 1 from 5 — 7 p.m. There is no charge for the meal but there will be a free will offer­ing to sup­port their trip.

ALL ARE WELCOME TO ATTEND REGARDLESS OF AGE: Fel­low­ship Hall @ 6 pm — $15 per per­son. Din­ner catered by LFUMC Men’s Club — Menu: Hoff­man hot hogs & coneys, salt pota­toes, ice cream floats & dessert.  Pro­gram: “The Smith Fam­i­ly (Smith-Coro­na) For­tunes” pre­sent­ed by the Ononda­ga His­tor­i­cal Asso­ci­a­tion’s Cura­tor of His­to­ry, Den­nis Con­nors. Reser­va­tion required — please sign up at the Senior table in Fel­low­ship Hall.

Video of the Palm Sun­day ser­vice avail­able

The 9:30 a.m.  Palm Sun­day wor­ship ser­vice was record­ed, includ­ing the choir’s per­for­mance of ‘The Weep­ing Tree.’ A lim­it­ed num­ber of copies of the video record­ing in DVD for­mat are avail­able from the office on a first-come, first served basis.

Red Bird Mis­sion Trip match­ing funds

Our Red Bird Mis­sion Trip to Bev­er­ly, KY has 19 mem­bers and friends of LFUMC going to help peo­ple in one of the poor­est coun­ties in the nation. The trip costs approx­i­mate­ly $550 per per­son. We are for­tu­nate to have two anony­mous donors who will match up to $1000 pro­vid­ed by LFUMC mem­bers and friends. In addi­tion to your prayers, please con­sid­er giv­ing to the fund rais­ing effort, know­ing that for every dol­lar you give, these donors will donate anoth­er dol­lar. Just iden­ti­fy your check or cash for “Red Bird Match­ing Funds”. Every­one who donates at least $200 will receive a hand craft­ed Adiron­dack Chair or 6 ft. pic­nic table, and the first 20 peo­ple who donate $25 will receive a pair of hand knit socks. Help us, and Red Bird Mis­sion bring the love of Christ to these won­der­ful peo­ple.

2016 Sophie Graze Schol­ar­ship appli­ca­tions avail­able

The Sophie Graze Schol­ar­ships assist church mem­bers with con­tin­u­ing edu­ca­tion beyond high school, and will be award­ed in June. Any church mem­ber may apply.  Appli­ca­tions and guide­lines are avail­able from Kate in the church office. Con­tact Karen Gloyd, Direc­tor of Chris­t­ian Edu­ca­tion, or the church office for infor­ma­tion. Due date for appli­ca­tions is May 11. Awards will be pre­sent­ed Sun­day, June 19.
