Teens invit­ed to after­noon of bowl­ing — Today

Youths in grades 6 through 12 are invit­ed to gath­er today at 1 p.m. for bowl­ing at Flamin­go Lanes, with piz­za and a dis­cus­sion of racism in hon­or of the Rev. Dr. Mar­tin Luther King Jr. Con­tact Pas­tor B at bshoman@aol.com for infor­ma­tion.

Girls (grades 9–12) book study 

On Jan. 19, girls in grades 9 — 12 are invit­ed to Robin Folk’s home for piz­za, con­ver­sa­tion, and a study of the book, Con­fi­dent. It will run for 6 weeks from 6 — 7:30 p.m. If you are inter­est­ed, please call Robin at 622‑9360.

Come to a Chick­en and Bis­cuit din­ner  on Jan. 23

The Din­ner/­Fund-rais­ing Com­mit­tee will serve a chick­en and bis­cuit din­ner on Sat­ur­day, Jan. 23 from 4 to 6 p.m. The menu is hearty chick­en and gravy over but­ter­milk bis­cuits, veg­etable, tossed sal­ad, dessert, and bev­er­age.  Adults are $10.  6–12 are $4.  Chil­dren 5 and under are FREE. Take-outs avail­able. Sign-up sheets for vol­un­teers to serve and for dessert mak­ers are now post­ed. Teens are wel­come to sign up, too. Enjoy fel­low­ship and help the church bud­get at the same time.

Olive­branch wom­en’s group meets Jan. 25

All women are invit­ed for appe­tiz­ers at 5:30 p.m., din­ner at 6 and pro­gram at 7. Expec­ta­tions of the nation­al Polit­i­cal Process in the next 10 months by Bill San­ford, Con­sul­tant Brown and San­ford and pri­or Chair­man Ononda­ga Coun­ty Leg­is­la­ture. Where do we go from here? What to expect? How do women influ­ence the plat­forms and how can women par­tic­i­pate in the process? Why does it mat­ter? All women are encour­aged to come with ques­tions that they are won­der­ing about relat­ed to cau­cus­es, pri­maries, elec­tion pri­maries, bal­lots, wom­en’s issues, etc. The cost is $5 for a light catered din­ner. Dis­trict Train­ing Day — Jan. 30

Every­one inter­est­ed in devel­op­ing skills to sup­port the mis­sion of the Unit­ed Methodist Church is invit­ed to par­tic­i­pate in a day of train­ing on Sat­ur­day, Jan. 30, at Cicero Unit­ed Methodist Church, 8416 Brew­er­ton Rd. in Cicero. Call 457‑5180 for infor­ma­tion.

Women’s Bible Study — The Bat­tle Plan for Prayer 

Devel­op a deep­er walk with God as you seek the Lord. The Bat­tle Plan for Prayer equips believ­ers to cre­ate their own prayer strat­e­gy and be spe­cif­ic and strate­gic in prayer. This 8‑week study is on Sun­days from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. start­ing on Jan. 31, meet­ing in the Junior High Room down­stairs, and is led by Ali­son Mapes. Women’s Min­istry — new study begins 

A new Bible study on the book of Eph­esian­sis is held Fri­day morn­ings at 9:30. We study, pray and devel­op won­der­ful friend­ships. The book of  Eph­esians is loaded with spir­i­tu­al knowl­edge.  The Women’s Min­istry is ongo­ing, so come any time. Rosanne McDougall at (451 5017) is the facil­i­ta­tor.
