Pan­cakes are com­ing – Sun­day, Jan. 10

On Sun­day, Jan. 10 the Liv­er­pool Unit­ed Methodist Men will serve a pan­cake break­fast from 8:30 a.m. – 11 a.m. in Fel­low­ship Hall.  A free-will offer­ing will be col­lect­ed to help fund the UMM’s tuition assis­tance for “Maxo” Luc­serne, a Hait­ian stu­dent we have been sup­port­ing for years.  The menu includes pan­cakes, sausages, apple sauce and bev­er­ages.

Dis­cov­er the Bible  study begins in Jan­u­ary

An eight-week dis­ci­ple­ship study, Dis­cov­er the Bible begins, Jan. 17. Dis­cus­sion groups will meet Sun­days at 11 a.m., and Wednes­days at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. This overview of the Bible helps par­tic­i­pants to bet­ter under­stand its con­tents and grow deep­er in their rela­tion­ship with Christ. Mem­bers of the con­gre­ga­tion are invit­ed to meet Bish­op Mark Webb at the Cross­roads Dis­trict Day With the Bish­op on Thurs­day, Jan. 14, at Belle­vue Heights Unit­ed Methodist Church, 2112 South Ged­des St. in Syra­cuse, begin­ning at 6:30 p.m. Meet at Belle­vue or ride togeth­er on the church bus. New day for con­tem­po­rary wor­ship, begin­ning Jan. 13

The Gath­er­ing, a con­tem­po­rary wor­ship ser­vice, will move from its Fri­day time slot to Wednes­day evenings at 6:30 p.m., begin­ning Jan. 13. Join us for infor­mal wor­ship, con­tem­po­rary praise music, and fel­low­ship.

Con­fir­ma­tion Infor­ma­tion Meet­ing — Jan. 6

Par­ent of chil­dren age 13 years or old­er: Liv­er­pool First will part­ner with the Syra­cuse Church to offer a Con­fir­ma­tion pro­gram. An infor­ma­tion­al meet­ing will be held on Jan. 6. Con­fir­ma­tion is an intense time for study of the Chris­t­ian faith and requires a sig­nif­i­cant invest­ment of par­tic­i­pa­tion that will lead par­tic­i­pants to a place where they will define their beliefs and be giv­en the oppor­tu­ni­ty to com­mit them­selves to Christ and active mem­ber­ship in the Church. They will study, dis­cuss faith issues, and attend road trip expe­ri­ences. Youth who have pre­vi­ous­ly com­plet­ed Con­fir­ma­tion may par­tic­i­pate as Youth Men­tors. We are also plan­ning anoth­er Con­fir­ma­tion expe­ri­ence in the autumn of 2016.

New year: new direc­tions

Are you inter­est­ed in start­ing some­thing new 2016? Is there a book you’d like to read and dis­cuss, a Bible study, mis­sion or ser­vice project you’d like to start? A new year is a great time to take the steps to make it hap­pen! You’re invit­ed to bring your ideas and a dish to share to Fel­low­ship Hall on Jan. 11. at 6:30 p.m. This will be a chance to meet oth­ers who might be inter­est­ed in sim­i­lar things (or dif­fer­ent things!) and enjoy each oth­er’s com­pa­ny and food. We’ll eat togeth­er, talk togeth­er and pray togeth­er, and deter­mine some next steps. We hope to see you there!

Come to a church din­ner on Jan. 23

The Din­ner/­Fund-rais­ing Com­mit­tee will serve a chick­en and bis­cuit Din­ner on Sat­ur­day, Jan. 23 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Vol­un­teers are need­ed to serve and help clean up. Cheer on the Orange on TV at noon (SU plays Vir­ginia in Vir­ginia) and then come
for chick­en and bis­cuits. Enjoy fel­low­ship and help the
church bud­get at the same time.
