Church Mem­ber­ship Class

On 3 Sun­days, July 5, 12, and 19, you are invit­ed to par­tic­i­pate in a Church Mem­ber­ship Class at 11 a.m. Top­ics of dis­cus­sion will be: What are the core beliefs of Unit­ed Method­ism? How are they the same/different from oth­er Chris­tians? What are the dis­tinc­tive the­o­log­i­cal emphases of the Unit­ed Methodist Church? What are the most impor­tant prac­tices for Unit­ed Methodist liv­ing? How are they the same/different from the prac­tices of per­sons of oth­er faith tra­di­tions? How are they prac­ticed at Liv­er­pool Unit­ed Methodist Church? How does one become a mem­ber of a Unit­ed Methodist Church? The class is open to any­one who wish­es to attend, includ­ing vis­i­tors, per­sons con­sid­er­ing mem­ber­ship, and cur­rent church mem­bers. An oppor­tu­ni­ty to take mem­ber­ship vows will occur at the 11 a.m. Wor­ship Ser­vice on Sun­day, July 26. We will then greet new mem­bers at the church pic­nic at John­son Park, just across Oswego St. from the Pur­ple Doors. Con­tact the church office at 457‑5180 for infor­ma­tion.

Cel­e­brate the Min­istry of Sara Bai­ley on July 26

At the Church Pic­nic in John­son Park on Sun­day, July 26, we will cel­e­brate the min­istry of Sara Bai­ley, our Chris­t­ian Edu­ca­tion Direc­tor. Sara will be leav­ing her posi­tion here at the church for an Art Teacher posi­tion at East Syra­cuse Ele­men­tary. We will miss Sara’s cre­ativ­i­ty and joy­ful lead­er­ship, but we rejoice with her that she has found full-time employ­ment in her field. Plan to attend the pic­nic July 26. Bring a dish to pass and a card or note to tell Sara what you have appre­ci­at­ed about her min­istry.

Wor­ship in The Park — Fri­day evenings

Every Fri­day through­out the sum­mer, Liv­er­pool First will host an infor­mal wor­ship ser­vice in John­son Park from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wor­ship shall include singing, the read­ing of the Word, and wit­ness to the Scrip­ture as well as per­son­al wit­ness­es from sev­er­al of our mem­bers. Your fam­i­ly is wel­come to join. Bring a lawn chair and look for the ban­ner and cross.

Advanced Lay Ser­vant Course

The Advanced Lay Ser­vant Course, How to Con­struct an Effec­tive Ser­mon, will be offered at Fayet­teville Unit­ed Methodist Church, 601 East Gene­see St., Fayet­teville, from 7 to 9 p.m., on Wednes­days, Sept. 2 — 30. Atten­dance on all dates is required for cred­it. The instruc­tor will be Rev. Dr. Rus­sell Hall. If you are inter­est­ed in this course, please com­plete appli­ca­tion form, have it signed by your pas­tor and return it to Susan Ranous, 201 Can­dee Ave., Syra­cuse, NY 13224 with a check payable to “UNYAC” in the sum of $10 by Sept. 1. Mis­sion­ary Vis­it — July 9

Devo­rah Umigig-Julian and Ronald Julian, mis­sion­ar­ies in Tokyo Japan with the Board of Glob­al Min­istries, will be with us on Thurs­day, July 9. Join us for a cov­ered-dish din­ner at 6 p.m. fol­lowed by a pre­sen­ta­tion by them at 7:15 p.m.

 

Cycling fel­low­ship

Do you want to enjoy the out­doors, get exer­cise, and meet and wor­ship with sis­ters and broth­ers from oth­er UM Church­es? Bring your bicy­cle to the Brew­er­ton Unit­ed Methodist Church every Tues­day for a recre­ation­al bike ride of ten to twelve miles. Dif­fer­ent routes every week. Start at 5:30 p.m with devo­tions and prayer. More chal­leng­ing rides at a faster pace and dis­tance of 35 miles leave from the park­ing lot of North Syra­cuse Believ­er’s Chapel every Thurs­day at 4:30 p.m.

 

Youth golf & ice cream, July 6

Teens enter­ing grades 7 — 12 are invit­ed to meet at church on Mon­day, July 6 to play Putt Putt and enjoy ice cream sun­daes and come back again for kick­ball and piz­za on Mon­day, July 27th. The fun begins at 6 p.m.

Senior Min­istries Activ­i­ties

Mon­ey for the Canandaigua lun­cheon cruise on Aug. 21st is due by July 16th.

Thurs­day, Octo­ber 15, 2015 Spaghet­ti Ware­house Din­ner The­ater Acme Mys­tery Com­pa­ny The menu: chick­en parmi­giana, spaghet­ti feast Lasagne, chick­en alfre­do, or Egg­plant Par­maigiana. Arrive at 6:30 p.m. at  689 North Clin­ton St. The how is from 7 to 10p.m.  $25 per per­son LFUMC Cou­ples Club and Sin­gles Club will be join­ing us this evening. Vol­un­teers need­ed at the Res­cue Mis­sion Thrifty Shop­per Store (cor­ner of Elec­tron­ics Park­way and Old Liv­er­pool Rd) 2 hour shifts (sort­ing & straight­en­ing) Tues­days or week­ends begin­ning in August from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you are inter­est­ed in help­ing, please con­tact Sarah Biel­ing.

Rep­re­sent Liv­er­pool First at Com­mu­ni­ty Con­certs

On Mon­days and Wednes­days from 7 p.m to 9 p.m., there are free com­mu­ni­ty con­certs in John­son Park, across Oswego St. from our church. We are look­ing for teams of 3 or 4 peo­ple to assist in serv­ing pop­corn and sell­ing soft drinks at the con­certs on: July 6 and 27, and Aug. 10. Sign up at the table in Fel­low­ship Hall or call the church at 457‑5180.

Every Sun­day at 9:30 a.m. chil­dren gath­er to learn about God in VBS style! Invite friends to come for music, games, and sci­ence.

Mon­day, July 6th at 6:30 p.m. we will have a vol­un­teer par­ty! If you are inter­est­ed vol­un­teer­ing for Christ­mas In July Dra­ma Camp please join us. We will have din­ner and pre­pare for dra­ma camp. Ques­tions will be answered and we will pray over this unique event!

Come Riv­er Raft­ing — July 18

Join the Youth of Liv­er­pool for an after­noon of raft­ing down the Salmon Riv­er. Enjoy the chal­lenge of maneu­ver­ing through the rapids and tak­ing in the scenery. We will eat lunch togeth­er and cel­e­brate our faith with those who desire Bap­tism or who want to renew their vows of Bap­tism. Cost is $46 per per­son, $23 for Youth after a schol­ar­ship. YOU MUST MAKE YOUR RESERVATION BY MONDAY, JULY 6 by email or call­ing the church office at 457‑5180. There is lim­it­ed space on the bus.

Camper­ship Funds need boost­ing

Please donate to our “Camper­ship” fund to help send our youth to camp. Camp is a place where lives are changed and kids meet Christ! Last year, Casowas­co  rec­og­nized LFMUC for being one of the top ten church­es send­ing youth to Casowas­co dur­ing the 2014 sum­mer camp sea­son. Let’s try to meet that goal once again.

Darien Lake tick­ets to raise mon­ey for camp

We were giv­en 5 tick­ets to Darien Lake from Oper­a­tion Christ­mas Child, and will give them to the high­est bid­der on July 12. Place your bid in the Silent Auc­tion box in Fel­low­ship Hall. Adult tick­ets to Darien Lake are val­ued at $46.
