Church Con­fer­ence and Sun­daes today

The Mem­ber­ship Care Com­mis­sion invites you to enjoy an ice cream sun­dae in the Fel­low­ship Hall fol­low­ing the 9:30 a.m. wor­ship ser­vice today. Spend some time cel­e­brat­ing sum­mer and catch­ing up with friends, by eat­ing dessert first! You can stay (or go home and return) for a potluck lunch at noon, fol­lowed by our annu­al “church con­fer­ence” at 1 p.m. when we will review the min­istries of the con­gre­ga­tion and adopt a plan and bud­get for the next 12 months, begin­ning July 1. Every church mem­ber who attends the meet­ing can speak and vote at the church con­fer­ence. A quo­rum is defined as all who attend a duly called and pub­li­cized meet­ing.

Red Bird Mis­sion Craft Sale

Appalachi­an Craft Fair June 27–28, 9:00 a.m.– 2:00 p.m; in Fel­low­ship Hall. Items for sale will include bas­kets, bowls, jew­el­ry, musi­cal instru­ments, wood­en pull toys, and woven rugs. All pro­ceeds will ben­e­fit Red Bird Mis­sion Crafts Red Bird Mis­sion are sell­ing beau­ti­ful hand­made crafts on the week­end of June 26 and we need your help.  The Red­bird Mis­sion is in one of the poor­est coun­ties in the US and they do a won­der­ful job bring­ing the love of Christ to that com­mu­ni­ty.  They work on homes in the com­mu­ni­ty (some­thing we have helped with on our mis­sion trips) as well as pro­vide a school, clin­ic, store and eco­nom­ic oppor­tu­ni­ty.  The mis­sion helps the peo­ple mar­ket and sell their home­made crafts to help sup­port their fam­i­lies. There are sev­er­al ways you can help.  First, buy the crafts.  There will be gor­geous items from hand carved bits of coal to musi­cal instru­ments and fur­ni­ture. Sec­ond we need help unload­ing the truck and set­ting up the sale on Fri­day, June 26 and also load­ing the truck on Sun­day June 28.  We also need a cou­ple fam­i­lies to open their homes to host for the Red Bird vis­i­tors.  There are two cou­ples com­ing and they need a place to stay Fri­day and Sat­ur­day night.  If you can help please con­tact Mike Nort­man at 720‑0709 or email me at

Guest Preach­er June 28: Tim Craw­ford 

Tim Craw­ford, Devel­op­ment Direc­tor at Red Bird Mis­sion, will share sto­ries of God’s work in Appalachia as our morn­ing mes­sage on Sun­day June 28, at the 8:00 and 9:30 wor­ship ser­vices. Tim says, “I have seen so many lives changed because of the mis­sion out­reach of the Unit­ed Methodist Church over the years that I nev­er grow weary of telling oth­ers of the good we are doing all the time, in good Wes­leyan fash­ion. My expe­ri­ences inspire me to look for new sto­ries each day of the impact Red Bird Mis­sion is hav­ing on thou­sands of peo­ple in South­east­ern Ken­tucky.”

Unit­ed Methodist Night 

at the Ball Park Tues­day, June 16 

Don’t miss the UNY Con­fer­ence-wide tail­gate par­ty (bring a dish to pass, and your own drink and table ser­vice) with com­pli­men­ta­ry grilled hot­dogs and coneys pro­vid­ed. Meet in the far right side of NBT Bank Sta­di­um, one Tex Simone Dri­ve, Syra­cuse (east side of Rt. 81 at Park Street, near Des­tiny USA) at 5:30 p.m. Bring non-per­ish­able foods for the Food Bank of CNY. Every Sun­day at 9:30 a.m. we will gath­er to learn about God in VBS style! Invite friends to come and cel­e­brate with music, games, sci­ence, and oth­er fun activ­i­ties.


Wake up with Cof­fee and Scrip­ture

Begin your Sun­day morn­ing dig­ging into God’s word with a hot cup of cof­fee or tea. In this study group feel free to bring your Bible and bring your ques­tions for an open time of read­ing and shar­ing. We study dif­fer­ent books of the Bible and themes through­out the year but are always open to study­ing what inter­ests you! Join us at 8 a.m. every Sun­day morn­ing in the con­fer­ence room next to the back office and library.
