Church Conference and Sundaes today
The Membership Care Commission invites you to enjoy an ice cream sundae in the Fellowship Hall following the 9:30 a.m. worship service today. Spend some time celebrating summer and catching up with friends, by eating dessert first! You can stay (or go home and return) for a potluck lunch at noon, followed by our annual “church conference” at 1 p.m. when we will review the ministries of the congregation and adopt a plan and budget for the next 12 months, beginning July 1. Every church member who attends the meeting can speak and vote at the church conference. A quorum is defined as all who attend a duly called and publicized meeting.
Red Bird Mission Craft Sale
Appalachian Craft Fair June 27–28, 9:00 a.m.– 2:00 p.m; in Fellowship Hall. Items for sale will include baskets, bowls, jewelry, musical instruments, wooden pull toys, and woven rugs. All proceeds will benefit Red Bird Mission Crafts Red Bird Mission are selling beautiful handmade crafts on the weekend of June 26 and we need your help. The Redbird Mission is in one of the poorest counties in the US and they do a wonderful job bringing the love of Christ to that community. They work on homes in the community (something we have helped with on our mission trips) as well as provide a school, clinic, store and economic opportunity. The mission helps the people market and sell their homemade crafts to help support their families. There are several ways you can help. First, buy the crafts. There will be gorgeous items from hand carved bits of coal to musical instruments and furniture. Second we need help unloading the truck and setting up the sale on Friday, June 26 and also loading the truck on Sunday June 28. We also need a couple families to open their homes to host for the Red Bird visitors. There are two couples coming and they need a place to stay Friday and Saturday night. If you can help please contact Mike Nortman at 720‑0709 or email me at email@example.com.
Guest Preacher June 28: Tim Crawford
Tim Crawford, Development Director at Red Bird Mission, will share stories of God’s work in Appalachia as our morning message on Sunday June 28, at the 8:00 and 9:30 worship services. Tim says, “I have seen so many lives changed because of the mission outreach of the United Methodist Church over the years that I never grow weary of telling others of the good we are doing all the time, in good Wesleyan fashion. My experiences inspire me to look for new stories each day of the impact Red Bird Mission is having on thousands of people in Southeastern Kentucky.”
