With the arrival of the beautiful weather and the joy of the coming summer I hope and pray that you all find time, make time, to slow down and “smell the roses”! Personally, I plan to use this summer as a time to be with family and friends, to love and laugh as much as possible. The school year is so busy that it doesn’t leave time in each day to be with them enough. I hope to make up for this during the summer. Professionally, I plan to offer two special classes in July to help our congregation improve their musical skills. On three consecutive Thursday nights – July 16, 23 & 30 – there will be two classes offered: from 6 to 7 p.m., “Church Music 101”, a class that will teach music reading, notation, rhythm, etc. and will include some hymn singing. There will be a break from 7 to 7:30 p.m. for snacks and fellowship, after which the second class takes place from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m., “Sing to the Lord!”, a group class for improving vocal singing technique. This class will include some light stretching, breath work, posture and vocal technique. Any and all ages are welcome to take one or both of these classes. Please sign up on the list posted in Fellowship Hall so that I can have enough materials for all participants. Deadline for sign up is July 6. At the time I am writing this article I am packing for Alaska and North Carolina. I will be gone the entire month of June and will miss singing and worshipping with you all, my church family. I look forward to being back with you in July. Until then, may God hold you all in the palm of His hands…love and blessings.
