Care­shar­ing Demen­tia Sem­i­nar

Build­ing Demen­tia-Friend­ly Com­mu­ni­ties for Con­gre­ga­tions and Fam­i­lies event to be held April 30 at Luther­an Care, 108 Uti­ca Road, Clin­ton. Guest speak­er Mar­ty Richards, author of Care­shar­ing. Richards will high­light prac­ti­cal ways faith com­mu­ni­ties can assist per­sons with demen­tia and their care­givers, build­ing on the strengths and resilien­cy of all involved to main­tain Chris­t­ian hope. Reg­is­tra­tion begins at 8 a.m. The cost is $20 for indi­vid­u­als; groups of three or more receive a dis­count. See Pas­tor Ali­son this week if you would like to join a group from LFUMC that are attend­ing.

Olive­branch Wom­en’s Fel­low­ship Group

Olive­branch meets tomor­row, April 27, start­ing with punch and appe­tiz­ers at 5:30 p.m., fol­lowed by din­ner at 6 p.m. The pro­gram will be a pre­sen­ta­tion by Elliot Lawrence regard­ing his con­fer­ence mis­sion trip. Please call Pat Cuper­nall at 457‑6730 to make your din­ner reser­va­tion no lat­er than to­day, April 26. All are wel­come to attend.

Snow­bird recep­tion

All Snow­birds and their friends are invit­ed to a recep­tion in the Memo­r­i­al Lounge Wednes­day, May 12 at 6:30 p.m. Whether you were gone for a week or for months, or just want to wel­come friends home, come share dessert, cof­fee and con­ver­sa­tion. Tell about your win­ter expe­ri­ences and catch up with things hap­pen­ing here at Liv­er­pool First UMC.

Red Bird Mis­sion fund rais­er

The Out­reach Com­mis­sion is hav­ing a spring Tag Sale (garage sale) in sup­port of the Red Bird Mis­sion. We are ask­ing for these items: good usable house­hold items, toys (no cloth­ing please), jew­el­ry, tools, col­lectibles, appli­ances in work­ing order, books, etc. (No fur­ni­ture or cloth­ing please).  Bring those trea­sures you were sav­ing for our auc­tion – which is not hap­pen­ing this year – to the col­lec­tion box in the back foy­er.  Our event will be held May 8 & 9 in con­junc­tion with the vil­lage-wide garage sales.  Thank you.  Ques­tions – call Jill Ertinger, 451‑6145.

Going to Church Camp This Sum­mer?

May 1st is the last day to receive the $10 Ear­ly-Bird Dis­count for Sum­mer Camp. Oth­er dis­counts include a $15 ‘Sib­ling Dis­count’ for fam­i­lies send­ing mul­ti­ple chil­dren to camp, and a $25 ‘Refer-A-Friend’ dis­count for those who refer a first-time camper.

Invi­ta­tion to pray

Prayer Part­ners invite you to be a part of the group that meets Mon­days at the church, from 3 to 4 p.m. Learn­ing how to call on God in prayer is one way that we devel­op our rela­tion­ship with God. We receive requests from many dif­fer­ent sources  and for many dif­fer­ent needs, such as heal­ing, com­fort, strength, wis­dom, pro­tec­tion, etc.  If you are inter­est­ed please call Pas­tor Ali­son at 457‑5180, Pamela Phillips at 451‑1087 or Barb Hal­stead at 622‑0752.

Food pantry 

In addi­tion to pro­vid­ing food, the food pantry at St. Joseph the Work­er Church dis­trib­utes tooth­paste, tooth brush­es, soap & sham­poo. Please put them in the con­tain­er labeled food pantry (locat­ed in the main cor­ri­dor of the church).

Do you quilt? 

Have spare mate­r­i­al?

The Prayer Quilt min­istry of Liv­er­pool First UMC is call­ing quil­ters to join them. If you haven’t quilt­ed before but would like to learn, they will teach you. They meet Tues­days at 10 a.m. at church to cre­ate Prayer Quilts. In order for them to con­tin­ue this out­reach, fab­ric, peo­ple, and mon­ey to pur­chase bat­ting, is need­ed. For infor­ma­tion, call the church at 457‑5180.

Wake up with Cof­fee and Scrip­ture

There is no bet­ter way to begin your Sun­day morn­ing than dig­ging into God’s word with a hot cup of cof­fee or tea. In this study group feel free to bring your Bible and bring your ques­tions for an open time of read­ing and shar­ing. We study dif­fer­ent books of the Bible and themes through­out the year but are always open to study­ing what inter­ests you! Join us at 8 a.m. every Sun­day morn­ing in the con­fer­ence room next to the back office and library.

Thanks for all the dona­tions and the pack­ers for the mil­i­tary box­es. Ten box­es were ful­ly packed with neces­si­ties, food, and treats. Four active ser­vice­men were sent box­es and six vet­er­ans, tran­si­tion­ing to the com­mu­ni­ty and work, received our gifts and let­ters.
