CALL TO WORSHIP
One: God calls us in the midst of family life, school, and work asking “Do you love me?”
All: Yes, Lord, we love you; that’s why we come to be fed by the joy and inspiration of your Holy Spirit in worship
One: God calls us from anxiety about our world and worries about ourselves, asking “Do you love me?”
All: Yes, Lord, we love you; that’s why we gather to be led away from dwelling on our yesterdays, dreading our future, and counting our losses.
One: God calls us to take a stand, asking “Do you truly love Jesus?”
All: “Lord, you know that we love you,” we reply. Help our actions to match our words.
Lord, when we are caught up in our own importance, give us a vision of Peter, who was humbled in Pilate’s courtyard. When we are lacking in self-confidence, give us a vision of Jesus’ three-fold questioning of Peter, gracefully giving him the opportunity to declare his devotion as many times as he had denied his Lord. In this time of worship, may we grow to see you more clearly, love you more dearly, and follow you more nearly. Amen.
