Ash Wednesday Services at 7 a.m., noon, & 7 p.m.

Ash Wednesday, Feb. 18, is the first of the 40 days of Lent, a time of preparing and repairing our hearts and lives for Christ’s Resurrection at Easter. In the midst of our sin and mortality, we claim and proclaim Christ’s power over sin and death as we receive a cross- the sign of the resurrection–drawn in ashes on our hand or forehead. Each of the services will include imposition of ashes; the 7 p.m. service will also include Holy Communion.

Sunday Soup Supper and Study

Lent, the forty days of penitence in preparation for Easter, has its own vocabulary: penitence, justification, atonement, propitiation, expiation, and resurrection to name a few. Pastors Brian and Alison will lead six Sunday evening studies, “Translating Christian Jargon” on these terms and others you suggest, beginning Sunday, Feb. 22. A simple soup and bread supper will be served at 5 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall, followed by a one-hour study. We are looking for persons willing to serve in the areas of set-up, soup preparation, and clean-up. Sign up sheets are posted in Fellowship Hall.

We study different books of the Bible and themes throughout the year but are always open to studying what interests you! Join us at 8 a.m. every Sunday morning in the conference room next to the back office and library.

Pancake Breakfast

Thanks to everyone who worked at the pancake breakfast. We had lots of feedback that the pancakes were the “best ever”.  A special thank you to our  two “first timers”, Rick Bratt and Bill Sanford; excellent work. We had a goal of raising $750 after expenses to fulfill our church’s  pledge toward Maxo’s medical school tuition. We grossed $602 in donations,  with about $150 in expenses, so we’re about $300 short of our goal.  We’ll come up with another fund raiser in the spring to fill the gap.

Invitation to pray

Prayer Partners invite you to be a part of the group that meets Mondays at the church, from 3 to 4 p.m. Learning how to call on God in prayer is one way that we develop our relationship with God. We receive requests from many different sources  and for many different needs, such as healing, comfort, strength, wisdom, protection, etc.  If you are interested please call Pastor Alison at 457-5180, Pamela Phillips at 451-1087 or Barb Halstead at 622-0752.
