Covenant service continues Wesleyan tradition of making annual promise

A Covenant Service was held Jan. 4 to invite worshipers to enter into a covenant in the Wesleyan tradition. John Wesley encouraged the early Methodists to be “methodical” about following Christ. Part of the method included making a plan and a promise to follow God’s leading in their lives. Everyone is encouraged to make plans and promises to live out their faith in 2015, committing to serving God in every aspect of living, whether at church, home, school, work, play or elsewhere. You may wish to sign the covenant printed here, and keep it in your place of daily prayer. If you don’t have a place set aside for daily prayer, creating one could be your 2015 New Year’s resolution.
