The Outreach Commission is sponsoring the Love Lights program again this year, with funds received going to the Food Bank of Central New York. Please use the special envelopes found in the pews for your donations. The need is even greater this year as people who are closer to us than usual are in need of resources after the “Sandy” disaster in the NYC area. The House at 807 needs your help
Needed, individuals or families to serve lunch at the House at 807 each Sunday in Jan. Please sign up in Fellowship Hall. You are to arrive around 11:15-11:30. Meals are already prepared and there are directions about heating, serving & setting the table. You may eat with the residents if you wish. You then clean up & put left overs away (there is a dishwasher). Well behaved children are enjoyed. This is a wonderful experience & outreach. The whole thing takes about an hour. If you sign up & cannot make it you must contact Pastor Beth ASAP.
There is always a need for food so please don’t forget to bring in nonperishable food items for the food pantry. Jam and jelly, cereal, peanut butter, canned meats, fruits and vegetables are especially needed. Keep in mind that the pantry cannot accept food that is past its expiration date.
Thanks for hosting
We are rejoicing in thanksgiving for opening your hearts and doors for our very successful November fund raiser. – The Young Life Capernaum Ministry
Support UMCOR this Christmas
This Christmas please consider supporting the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), which responds to the needs of people in the United States and throughout the world, in many different ways. Much of the organization’s work is in disaster response – helping clean up and rebuild after a natural disaster. Many of their other missions are designed to help people lead a better life – providing meals to hungry children, purchasing bed nets for individuals in communities where malaria is present, training community health workers, or providing school supplies for needy students. To give to one of these specific missions, look at the Rethink Christmas catalogue online at www.umcor.org/Christmas <http://www.umcor.org/christmas> If you would like to support Hurricane Sandy relief efforts taking place in the United States, you may make checks out to UMCOR US Disaster Response with this code in the notation line: Advance # 3021787. These offerings may be made online at the UMCOR web site listed above, or left in the church office or the offering plate to be forwarded to UMCOR. – Thank you.
Don’t forget to check our Lost & Found box, located on the shelf above the coat racks in the main corridor. If you are missing anything and you don’t find it in the box, leave a note for Kate in the mailbox outside of her office. The staff will keep an eye out for it.
